Does this still come with the marlin? Apparently the put a marlin line art picture on it they only held the license too for so long... instead of a design that was free or owned by them.

Also this is probably one of the best overall watches you can get for this price. It's a tank.

YMMV, but my local Walmart had the blue version on clearance for $49, which is ten dollars cheaper than Amazon currently. There were three of them left, so I am going to wait and see if they go any lower. EDIT- It is the same price online. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Casio-.../889819551

I'm 5"10, 180 and I think the watch faces are a good fit; not too small and not too big.

I tend to prefer larger watch faces but I wasn't disappointed with these types of Seikos.

Sounds like a great deal, just bought one. Can anyone recommend a good bracelet for this watch? I like NATO straps but already have a bunch.

I've had mine for ~6 years and it's great for the price if you're ok with the size. It was my office/weekend beater for several years and doesn't really look any worse-for-wear from it. I've worn it on NATOs, brown leather, smooth silicone, and polished stainless shark depending on who/what/where. The latter can make it on the edge of hefty for me, but if you're used to 44mm+ (which is already the absolute edge of what I'll wear) you probably won't mind one bit. It can be dressed up or worn rough like any other understated dive watch, though I'd hesitate to wear it with a suit because of the size. If they made a 40-42mm version I'd grab it... even though I need another dive watch as much as another hole in the head.

Consider that the majority of people who get steel analog watches do so for the looks, don't wear them 24/7 (because cellphones), and never actually find out if they are durable. The two mdv106 that I had that lasted over a month were worn 24/7 and lasted around a year each. After the third one failed almost immediately, I went to a stupid looking casio gshock, and have worn it 24/7 for the last 5 years or so. It's pretty obvious why the 106 is fragile if you know any materials science at all. The exposed glass edge is a no-go.

What the heck do you do to your watches?

I've had mine going on three years and it was my daily watch until I got a Lunar Pilot a few months ago. I still wear this watch quite a bit.

Yes still has the Marlin logo, at least for the US market. They heard from many people that we definately wanted them to keep it.

Thanks a bunch! For those that are interested, it's 22mm strap for this watch (per online research), the save5 code works and it was $2 shipping for me. Since my watch from Amazon won't be here til Nov 3rd there's no rush to stare at the strap when the watch is floating somewhere on this planet.
PS scroll lower to select your favorite strap(s).

That's weird, I had no shipping charges on either of my orders. My watch bands arrive tomorrow!

As others have said these watches are the most insane value in the watch world. Available in six colorways now. The blue one is especially good IMO.

A full stainless steel case and 200M of water resistance for under $50 is mental. There are no competitors. Expect to pay $200-$300 retail for any direct competitor.

It's quartz and not mechanical, unlike many those competitors, but I feel that quartz is more appropriate anyway for a watch that is intended to be rugged. (I have mechanical watches as well -- right tool for the job, I say)

The stock rubber bracelet (while decently comfortable) is uggo but you can pop a 22mm strap/bracelet of your choice onto there. Plenty of great straps well under $20.

Only real downside is size; 44MM will be cartoonishly big on many.

Yes. The new US (and I think all North American) MDV106's still have the cute little Marlin.

The MDV107s are sold elsewhere in the world and do not have have the marlin. Apparently due to a rights issue like you said.

Supposedly a highly respected watch in the diving community.
While I'm sure you can find exceptions, dive computers (essentially, big timers worn on the wrist) are the norm for divers.

Some wear analog watches like this for backup devices, or for very casual/shallow dives. However I'm not sure the Casio is a great choice for that.

If I was truly trusting my life to a watch I'd want something ISO 6425 certified. They're easy to spot because they will say "DIVER'S 200M" on the face. Can get them from Seiko, Citizen, etc. ISO 6425 certificiation means that each watch has been individually tested to be free of condensation under challenging conditions, and has been pressure-tested to greater than its advertised depth: so 250m for a watch advertised as "DIVER'S 200M".

In normal usage the Casio MDV106 is a very durable watch and is a real tank. But unlike "real" ISO divers they have not been put through individual torture testing.

I think that when people describe these as "durable" or as "tanks", that's kind of assumed. Any glass (even sapphire crystal) can crack or shatter if banged directly against rock or metal. Like you said: if that's part of your use case, then you definitely want a G-Shock or something like it instead.

As far as shock/vibration go, the quartz Duro is orders of magnitude more durable than a mechanical watch but orders of magnitude less durable than a digital watch. If you're working a jackhammer or firing machine guns all day digital is the way to go.

But I wear mine for hikes, yardwork, etc with no worries or damage.
