Edit: Looks like they're offering an extended return periodically for the holiday season, so I ordered it. I'll let you know how it works out.
From what I recall, Roborock has a much better app and the vacs have good performance. The mop is hit or miss.
For the T8, the main advantage I see is the object avoidance and self empty (to each their own on this point). The included mop is also meh but they do offer and upgrade ($99) that vibrates. Theoretically it should be better but again, it'll depend on usage conditions.

The app isn't terrible, with the exception of dividing areas. The bot needs to determine on the map that a "wall" is actually a wall, and not an obstacle. If you have a door with a gap at the bottom, that's not a wall... and apparently the actual wall on either side of it isn't a wall either, so you can't divide near it. This seems to be a known issue with no fix. If you have folding doors or something like a kitchen pantry , don't plan on dividing areas anywhere near it.
The bot does a pretty decent job of vacuuming; it picked up all of the cat litter outside of the bathroom, and all of the little cardboard pieces from the scratching board, etc. But the mop is pretty much useless. If you have a wet Swiffer that'll do the same thing in less time. I'm considering getting the Ozmo Pro mop accessory since that's supposed to be significantly better (and louder), and you can find it for around $35 on AliExpress (as opposed to $100 in most retailers). Speaking of loud, this thing clunks LOUDLY on hardwood floors, and it squeaks like an entire nest of rats. The latter may be fixable, but the former is not. The actual vacuum noise is fairly quiet, much less noisy than I had expected. But the self-cleaning station is as loud as an old-school standing vacuum... don't be near that when it runs.
The biggest problem, and the reason that I'll most likely be returning it, is that it can't dock. Full stop. It will crawl up to the front of the dock, inch its way up the ramp, land in place... and then grind its wheels while wiggling back and forth for about a minute, before reversing off the dock and repeating the process. Eventually it'll get stuck hanging off the dock and complain that it's off the ground, or that the wheel is stuck, etc, and it'll yell (via its speakers) for help. If it can't dock, it can't charge and it can't use the self-emptying function, which makes the whole thing essentially useless.
I'm going to try a few things to see if I can fix the docking issue, but otherwise that's a dealbreaker.
Which means if you run the robot on a schedule, when nobody is home to manually stop it, remove the plate, and then resume docking... it will spend the entire rest of the day banging into the charging dock until you get home or the battery dies. Their solution was to monitor its progress via the app, cancel the task when it starts to return for charging, then remove the mopping plate and let it complete docking when you get home.
They also warned me that if the robot attempts to dock while the mop is attached, that may damage the charging station. Even though that's the default and only behavior. By design, it tries to do something that it can't do and will damage itself.
How silly.
Which means if you run the robot on a schedule, when nobody is home to manually stop it, remove the plate, and then resume docking... it will spend the entire rest of the day banging into the charging dock until you get home or the battery dies. Their solution was to monitor its progress via the app, cancel the task when it starts to return for charging, then remove the mopping plate and let it complete docking when you get home.
They also warned me that if the robot attempts to dock while the mop is attached, that may damage the charging station. Even though that's the default and only behavior. By design, it tries to do something that it can't do and will damage itself.

Again, if this is a "safety concern" and something that'll prevent it from working correctly... it should NOT be the default and ONLY behavior available. I do believe you guys when you say that it should work correctly while attached, which makes this response from support all the more disappointing.
Now everything is fixed and the bot works just fine as brand new, I'm not sure the problem will come back again sometime in the future and if I can afford the repairing when it occurs. I'd admit I'm not really diligent about the maintenance and cleaning. This bot is very much self sustainable. It never stuck somewhere, I only need to replace the trash bag maybe once a month, or mount the mop module once in a while to mop. Otherwise I tend to leave it alone and ignore the minor complains the bot sometimes chime about. That might contribute to the electronic problem I've experienced.
In other words, electronics nowadays tend to be flimsy, don't count on longevity of this kind of thing. The whole idea of modern consumer product is based on "cheap to buy, frequent to replace" motto.

You can do pretty much everything, slide and dice the rooms, bar for no entry, excluding etc. on the map, change suction strength, mapping water amount etc. for each room, scheduling per room or area, about the only thing I wish they have is the mopping avoidance for rugs.
The key thing with these bots is the object avoidance so it can complete the clean all by itself. If frequent human interference is required it defeats the purpose to use a bot in the first place. But apparently this is not something the bot manufacture took to heart when they design the majority of the bots on market.

I'm just buying another spare one, in case it has problem again I'll decide which is more cost effective, to pay for repairing or just throw it away. If it lasts for two years, I have no regret for the $500 bot, that the new consumer electronics average life span anyway. Alternatively you pay for Roomba for the higher quality and durability, but miss the timing of technology upgrades as it lasts too long, lol.
