It gets bright enough where you can't look directly at it. Should be fine to light most rooms. But it really will depend on your camera settings. Slow motion video requires much more light than regular video. But in 95% of cases, this light along with a light box/diffuser is all most people will need. Nobody filming a studio level movie is buying this light. For all the home creators, this light is excellent for the price. The only downside being the fan noise so don't mic up too close to it. At $99, this is a steal for the performance you get.

Is this what people use when they're depressed during the winter months?

This very under powered light, would not suggest if this is the only light you are planning to have for your video shoots...I have Godox 160W version I, really good light and very bright, version one noise level is higher than version two, but not something that will bother you if you are not recording close to it. I might buy this as my second light

This looks like it's also available at B&H as well, with free expedited shipping.

I have this light for my YouTube videos. It's great and godox updated the fan and it's not loud at all. Mics don't pick it up.

This looked suspiciously like they just slapped a $5 100W LED chip on a CPU heatsink and a $3 cell phone tripod and call it a day.
