Set up PayPal so you can pay with QR codes. Link your Chase freedom flex as the payment method.

CVS is one of the few places that take PayPal QR codes as payment. It's been recommended to use self checkout, if possible. Once you add the gift card, DO NOT click any payment method on the self checkout terminal. Instead, scan your PayPal QR code like you are buying something. Then it will allow you to checkout and pay with PayPal.

If it does indeed stack with the 2% back at drug stores as the other thread suggests, that's 11% back on up to $1500.
I don't think you read the whole post...
It is only for Freedom Flex.

Buy $500 VISA gift cards at CVS using Paypal app = 9%

If you live near Giant Eagle supermarkets, they accept Paypal.

Lowe's and Home Depot only accept Paypal on their website, not in their stores.

.
This is amazing hack !!!

so in theory you should get back $45 for the 500 GC ?

I just called Chase and "switched" my Chase Freedom to Chase Flex. It's simple to do, no credit check, only hassle is the CC # will change (also changes from Visa to Mastercard) so I have to update the CC # on the merchants who use the old one. I didn't want to open a new card (my credit is frozen) and the rewards are better with Flex

While sound advice, you don't want to do that in this case. Keep Freedom and apply for Flex so you get the same 5% calendar benefits on both cards.

Can we use up the 5% for freedom and then convert it to flex and have the 9% again?

All in one category.
That entire $1500 needs to be spent on groceries or gas or home improvements.
That's the gotcha in all of this.
If you spend $1000 using Paypal at Home Depot and $500 using Paypal at Walgreens.com, you get 9% on that $1000 at Home Depot and 7% on the $500 at Walgreens.

.
The bonus 5% will be added on the most spent category. In your example, you will get 9% on $1000 Home Depot purchase if you use Paypal as payment (1% + 4% Paypal + 4% bonus), and 3% at Walgreens (drug store).

I have no idea. Theoretically it should work as it's changed to new product yet it is still under same account. You'll also have to wait for the current transactions bonuses to post which take a month or two. Hopefully others will chime in.

Have the freedom (not flex). After filling out, says activated. I don't see any language on the page about an additional 5% in the link. Missing something here?

So it seems like you can only do it in the one category you spend the most in so I assume the bonus points won't come until after December.

That is correct. In the terms and conditions, it writes "Your top spend category will be calculated at the end of the offer period, December 31, 2021. Please allow up to 8 weeks after the end of the offer period for your bonus cash back to post to your account."

I called up customer service and they said the promotion is not applicable if I upgrade my existing chase freedom card. If I apply for this new flex card then it will require a hard pull. Is it true?

Is this targeted? I did not receive an email from Chase about the additional 5% CB.

Companies do promotions for a new product line all the time. There is absolutely no point getting upset about it.

Chase Freedom is now end of life. Flex line is the new version replacing it. You can apply for Flex with only a short temporary credit score hit. Managed properly, you won't have to worry about Chase 5/24 rule.

Why not convert freedom to flex? That would be proper 5/24 mgmt. Besides bonus, the only con is another Warehouse Club Qtr i. e. Costco, I hope it happens again.

There was (is?) a Flex signup offer of 5% for the first year of using the card! Maybe a new card would have been better?
