Set up PayPal so you can pay with QR codes. Link your Chase freedom flex as the payment method.

CVS is one of the few places that take PayPal QR codes as payment. It's been recommended to use self checkout, if possible. Once you add the gift card, DO NOT click any payment method on the self checkout terminal. Instead, scan your PayPal QR code like you are buying something. Then it will allow you to checkout and pay with PayPal.

If it does indeed stack with the 2% back at drug stores as the other thread suggests, that's 11% back on up to $1500.
I don't think you read the whole post...
It is only for Freedom Flex.

I got 9% in Q3 with my Flex because Q3 was grocery stores and I was still in my first year with the Flex.

Thank you this helped. Repped.

There is a separate $1500 5% pot.
So you can use the Flex to get 5% at groceries if you have already spent $1500 at Walmart and/or Paypal.
Is this true? So total you can get 5% at the eligible categories up to 1500 + another 5% via paypal/wallmart? Where does it state that?

Is there an easy method these days to convert a Visa gift card directly to cash? Without raising red flags at Venmo, PayPal, or wherever?

If I were to buy a $500 gift card at a CVS or Walgreens, using my PayPal QR code on my PP app, wouldn't it be: 1% (regular) + 3% (drugstore) + 4% (top spend category) + 4% (PayPal) for 12% total? I know everything is saying 9% is the max you can get out of this deal, so that would mean you can't triple dip the 3% for drugstores, 4% for PP, & 4% for top spend (+ 1% regular CB)? A PP app payment at a CVS or Walgreens store isn't tagged as a drugstore purchase, vs using your Freedom credit card directly there? TIA for any insight.

This is a screen capture of my Ultimate Rewards page.
yeayeah i dont see anywhere it says bonus 5%. I guess this is YMMV unless you get the email. I guess you can risk it and see if they give it to you, but as of now nothing shows you will get it.

I got the Email but was confused about the "Top Spending" category, so appreciate the explanation very much!

Lowe's and Home Depot only accept Paypal on their website, not in their stores.
I'm in for an appliance but can't find the option to add PayPal on Lowe's site. I was able to add it to Home Depot but the ones that I'm interested in are all out of stock. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

BTW, slightly off topic: I used FLEX at a Walmart on Oct 1st. The transaction shows as "WM Supercenter" in Grocery category(my one year was up last month) but 1%. All the other "Walmart" and "WM Supercenter" charges are in Grocery with 5%. I hope Chase will straighten it out in the statement as I hate to call them up and complain about a few $.

You have to click on the tab that says "Other Payment Methods". Then you get Paypal or VISA Checkout.

Yeah, this happened to my mom and others posted about it.
She bought a $500 VISA gift card and some groceries and only got the 1%.
She called, and Chase said the missing points will be credited on her next statement.
I also bought a $500 VISA gift card but nothing else on that same day at the same Walmart, and I got the full 5%.
Bizarre.

That's not what Chase's FAQ is saying.
If it is 11% then it's a happy bonus.
I am expecting 9% as not to be disappointed.

In Q1, when Chase still had the AARP VISA, they upped the cash back from gas from 3% to 5% and upped drugstores from 1% to 5% and upped grocery stores from 1% to 5%.
I suspect they are doing the same thing here with drugstores.
1% + 4% (instead of 2%) + 4% (Paypal) = 9%.

I tried buying a $500 serve visa card at CVS and failed. First I went to the self-check out and the transaction stalled because it was over $250. A cashier then rings me up on a cash register and asks for my ID and swipes it into the system. Then when it comes time to pay he scans my PayPal QR code and tells me that it's not going through. So I aborted that transaction and tried with Vanilla Visa GC at a the self-check-out but that too failed due to being over $250. What did I or the cashier do wrong and is it bad sign that they swiped my ID for such low transaction amount?

Make sure the app is showing the Pay with Paypal QR code.
There is a separate QR code for receiving money with Paypal.

Also, the cashier may have to push a different button for Paypal.
I can't see what he was doing but that is the impression I got.

Wegmans asks for my ID, so I expect it.

Nope, I don't have that banner below mine. Just some other advertisement, hoping it works out.

Many blogs are talking about this offer and none mention it as being targeted.
Fingers crossed.
