Set up PayPal so you can pay with QR codes. Link your Chase freedom flex as the payment method.

CVS is one of the few places that take PayPal QR codes as payment. It's been recommended to use self checkout, if possible. Once you add the gift card, DO NOT click any payment method on the self checkout terminal. Instead, scan your PayPal QR code like you are buying something. Then it will allow you to checkout and pay with PayPal.

If it does indeed stack with the 2% back at drug stores as the other thread suggests, that's 11% back on up to $1500.

So the bonus doesn't apply for Paypal purchases in general? It only works if you purchase one of those categorgies (Travel (including Transit), Dining, Home Improvement Stores, Grocery Stores (not including Target and Walmart purchases), Drugstores, Gas Stations, Select Live Entertainment, Select Streaming Services, Fitness Clubs.) through Paypal?

I was planning on making an eBay purchase via Paypal..

How does Chase know what category it is if it goes through Paypal?

Just to confirm, I was able to buy $500 Visa gift card from CVS using paypal without any issues. Couldn't use self checkout as the amount was too high. The cashier checked my ID, told her that I wanted to pay with paypal, she selected it and said its asking to scan your phone. Showed the barcode on my phone and went through immediately. Let's see how much bonus I get.

No, I don't think so. The worst you can get is 7%. Right now, the only thing that's not certain is the 4% extra for top category which won't post until end of quarter. 7% is not bad don't you think?

If it is another 4%, I am going to be really really annoyed
that Chase did not tell us about this sooner since I already used $504.94

I used CFF at a gas station, but only got 1x points instead of 5x points. I had already activated q4 bonus category as well as activated top category spend bonus when I received email for it. Based on faq it is automatically activated if u activated q4 bonus category. Not sure why I didn't get 5x points. Thx

You didn't read the fine print.
You get the additional 4% after this quarter is over.
Chase looks back your entire Q4 purchase history.
So you won't see the additional 4% until 2022.

Any data points or thoughts on whether this offer will be extended to new Flex card holders? I just product changed my Unlimited card to Flex and would love to have this deal as well.

I've been in the points game for over 4 years now and I have travelled at probably 1/10 the cost and usually in high end resorts/hotels. It's the best hobby I picked up! No, I don't believe cruises are part of the travel perks you get from Chase. The extra 25% or 50% is only for air and hotel stays and I rarely used it when I had the Reserve. The Reserve is no longer attractive, shitty signup bonus with mediocre perks. The Preferred is a much better choice with its 100K bonus.

you're right! What am I thinking, I forgot I generated a 100K referral link before the expiration. It worked for a few days and now it's back to 60K as well.

Agreed, except when you have accumulated a boatload of points, then the 1.5x travel usage of Reserve looks very attractive over the 1.25x of Preferred.
