Set up PayPal so you can pay with QR codes. Link your Chase freedom flex as the payment method.

CVS is one of the few places that take PayPal QR codes as payment. It's been recommended to use self checkout, if possible. Once you add the gift card, DO NOT click any payment method on the self checkout terminal. Instead, scan your PayPal QR code like you are buying something. Then it will allow you to checkout and pay with PayPal.

If it does indeed stack with the 2% back at drug stores as the other thread suggests, that's 11% back on up to $1500.
I don't think you read the whole post...
It is only for Freedom Flex.

Q4 offer is for Walmart OR PayPal, right? The charge is posted from PayPal (regardless of the retailer that you used the PayPal checkout to pay for it).
Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking that since the Q4 bonus categories are WalMart and PayPal, I would get the extra 4% for each of those. I think I was confusing it with 2022 Q1 when I will earn 9% at grocery stores combining the Q1 bonus category with my new member grocery store offer.

I want to preorder something that can either use Walmart/Paypal. Anyone know if I'll get the 9% (or at least 5%) category bonus if the order releases/ships on Feb 2022? New to this preorder thing, but I heard payment will be "posted" now and "charged" when it ships.
Based on what I just learned (I'm new to this Flex card), it would be 5%, not 9% (PayPal and WalMart offers don't combine), but I don't think you would even get the 5% because the charge won't go through until 2022.

Do we have to do self checkout? Or can the regular checkout with an employee ringing you up work too with Paypal QR codes?

It appears to work the same as the Citi Custom Cash card.
You decide the top spend category by what you buy.
I wish Chase had made this offer known sooner.
I already bought a $500 VISA gift card at Walmart.
This leaves me with $1000 to use at CVS.
I will buy two $500 VISA gift cards using Paypal.
This is 9%.
Quote from samwathegreat :
These two promos appear to be in addition to one another. According to the terms, it ALSO looks like it stacks with the normal 2% back at drug stores. So you should be able to spend the full $1500 at CVS (w/PayPal) and earn 11% on the first $1000, and 7% on the next $500.
Quote from vajratlr :
Not sure if this has been shared but I am quite sure 11% from drugstores is highly possible. I bought $1500 VGC'S from CVS and 7% have already showed up on my account. 4% top cat will probably post end of quarter.

Just to confirm, I was able to buy $500 Visa gift card from CVS using paypal without any issues. Couldn't use self checkout as the amount was too high. The cashier checked my ID, told her that I wanted to pay with paypal, she selected it and said its asking to scan your phone. Showed the barcode on my phone and went through immediately. Let's see how much bonus I get.

I recently signed up for this card and just purchased three $500 Visa gift cards at CVS using the Paypal mobile app. That was my first time paying in store via Paypal and it went pretty smoothly. I guess I'll eventually find out how all of these rewards stack. Is 11% what people are thinking we'll get on drugstore purchases made via Paypal?

I have a paypal account and confused how to use this. I was able to login to the website, add my flex card and make that as the preferred payment method for in store purchases.
1) Do I need paypal app? Thinking I do, I downloaded and was trying to setup. The app keep asking me to add phone number for verification and does not accept any number I give. In fact there are multiple phone numbers already on my account that I setup by logging in from computer.

2) I see some websites giving directions on how to setup and add paypal to GPay. Is that how we use? Do I need paypal key? I see I am not invited for that.

3) From reading the threads I believe Safeway is not an option. Please correct if I am wrong.

Really appreciate any help.

You need have the cashier scan your phone for payment. So, you need the app.
In there you need to set up QR code payments. Make sure freedom flex is selected as the payment card for qr code payments and unselect pay using PayPal balance.

I don't recall what happened when I first installed the Paypal app on my smartphone.
I don't understand how you can have multiple phone numbers for your Paypal account.

You do need the Paypal app. When I went to CVS, I took both my Android phone and an iPad just to be safe. I generated a QR code and they just scanned it off my phone. There was really nothing to it and that was my first time paying in store via the app.

With regards to the issue you're having setting up the app, I would suggest reaching out to Paypal directly if you're not able to get it resolved.

I believe you can add multiple emails and phone numbers to your account. One of them needs to be primary.

Are you a new card holder? If so, you should get 5% at grocery stores for the first 12 months. Otherwise, the grocery store offer for Q1, which you have to activate, doesn't start until January 1st.

There is currently a list of grocery store merchants located here https://creditcards.chase.com/fre...view=false, but I'm not sure if it's a comprehensive list.

So if my top spend category this quarter and year is groceries on my flex because I'm still in the special 5% grocery x 1 year promo how can I get this extra on groceries?
