Good luck actually getting it if you order from dot com. Some of us are still in "delayed" status without shipping/tracking updates on $1000 PCs ordered at the beginning of the month. I'm not posting this to bash Walmart, I'm just posting this to open some eyes to supply/shipping issues, Walmart's selling practices (selling inventory they don't have), and to suggest finding one in-store if at all possible if you really want one.

You should pick it up and also verify this is the case. It could be just mine.
Also the wifi card on mine is NOT intel AX200 but the Realtek RTL8852AE. This is Wifi 6 and BT5.2 so I guess it's not bad, but a lot of people might prefer intel AX200. Also feel a little misleading by WM description!
The box does say model 15-eh1070wm. So I am wondering if we are having multiple builts! I think we need more people to buy and find out....
Thanks … but some of the features, for example a backlit KB, are really important (for few of us) and are deal breakers. Although WM had a good return policy, but don't feel nice to open the laptop box and return it.

Can others who have received it confirm if it has a backlit KB or not, and what WiFi card do these lappys have … as one of those has connectivity issues.

I think I will go with the $600 16GB Lenovo laptop from Costco.

The current Ryzen 7 (over Costco's intel i5) laptop, though has 8GB ram, caught my attention and I was excited to be able to pick it up today.

Thanks

Yeap, I imagine this laptop won't be selling as briskly compared to last yr. Although if they cut this to below $400 then i think it would still be aa good deal for a lot of people that dont need the backlit keyboard.

But at $600 right now, this is not very remarkable in any way

I totally agree.

Any recommendations for a similar spec laptop in this price range?

How is the $630 Amazon deal?

i ordered one for the wife. i thought it would be solid for web, email and some youtube. no backlit keyboard was an issue for her and no touchscreen finalized the decision to return it. costco has another i5 on sale, same price Model 15-eg1053cl seems to have the BL KB + touchscreen

I upgraded my WM from last year to 64GB so it should work. What set did you get? How long did you wait at boot the first time after intalling? it takes a bit longer to boot when bios reconfigures to new ram first time.

. Also, try to remove one module and boot with one at a time and see if work if you still cant get it to boot even after waiting a long while .

I mean this in the nicest way…

We have HP laptops at work that cost almost double the price of their consumer versions, and they are awful. We tend to go them every 2 years due to failing parts, but at least those have 3 year warranties.

With that being said, just imagine how cheap they go with a consumer version, that does not have that same warranty. This might be best just being a used only at home.
So I recently picked up 2 HP laptops, the beefy brother of this very Walmart model (15-eh1070wm) from Costco recently on sale for $610 (15-eh1075cl model). And another one, 15-dw3163st from Staples for $350, a cheaper design than this one from Walmart, but with 4 intel cores.

Both have annoying issues which are not easy to address. The Costco one has a weird power glitch/freeze in a specialized software package, the Staples one has an annoying sounding fan. Also, it seems that the 4 core intel is way hotter than the 8 core Ryzen chip. Both these laptops sometimes keep fan on in Standby mode for some time after going to Standby (seriously???). I have never seen fan on in Standby before.

At work, the IT has been fighting the swelling battery issue in the business HP laptops.

A cheap BF 2020 Lenovo on the other hand does exactly what you expect. No weirdness. It just works. Even with 1/2 of RAM soldered, I almost forgive this indiscretion Smilie

This does shake my faith in HP quality somewhat - not the hardware I used to like ...
