This good for a 12yo that wants to be a pilot to learn on? Budget is a concern too.

not automatically. someone would have to be at the drone controls and manually fly the drone to follow the car.

There are drones made for kids and many inexpensive ones. If you have never used a drone before, consider getting an RC toy or something like this.

Edit: I accidentally posted this on the wrong place. I was asking this question on DJI tello. I never had a drone before and I want to use with my young children. I know Mavic mini is better but it's also a lot more money than this one. I would be really sad if I or my kids damage the mavic mini. So,Is this the best drone below $100 right now? Are there better specs and quality drones that I should consider?

imo going cheap, too cheap, will only leave a bad taste with the flying experience and end up causing more problems later down the road. loss of interest, afraid to fly something expensive, thinking $$$ means complicated to fly. in reality, the dji drones are too easy to fly. the learning curve is a bit steep but it's short and i'm talking weeks. the good news is you can't go wrong if you buy the cheap dji service protection called dji care refresh. no matter how you crash it, dji will practically cover it so you get to fly and learn in peace. the bad news is the first couple of weeks can be a bit overwhelming for the new flyer since there's *lots* to learn and you have to remember everything included the drone rules. after 60 days you look back and wonder how you struggled with all this and honestly, i think it's the same for kids and adults alike. i own so so many of those toy drones (back with they were first available) and to be honest, they didn't nothing for me when you look back....meaning i could have easily started with something along the lines of a mavic mini.
