Buy a phone, say the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra at $1000 or more at another carrier, wait for 90 days, and switch to TMobile, get $1000 within 15 days.

Cost would be 3 months bill at the other carrier (say $120), 30 days of TMobile essentials (say $30 each line if doing 3 or 4 lines), total $160.

Sounds like a great deal. Am I missing anything? Risk is that the deal disappears in 90 days.

https://www.t-mobile.com/news/off...your-phone

eligible carriers are AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum, Boost, Claro, Xfinity or UScellular.

"What phones are eligible to be used on your network for Keep and Switch?

Apple iPhone: 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, SE (2020), 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
Google Pixel: 2, 2 XL 3, 3 XL, 4, 4 XL
Samsung: Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy Note9, Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy Note10, Galaxy Note10+ (4g), Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ (4g), Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20 Ultra, Note 20, Note20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung Galaxy S21+, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra"

In theory sounds like a good deal, but I know with Verizon at least, you'd have to wait 60 days after the phone purchase for the phone to be unlocked to take to TMO. Not sure about ATT lock policy.

Seems like a lot of maneuvering just to get a few extra dollars vs the current trade in deals.

"Have a device financing agreement on an eligible device with AT&T, Verizon, Spectrum, Boost, Claro, Xfinity or UScellular and have had the agreement for at least 90 days on that network."

On the positive side, TMobile will issue the $1000 within 15 days: " card typically takes 15 days."

Can I do Costco BYOD and get $300 Costco cash.

And then submit this EIP reimbursement of device paid off ( AT&T ) to get virtual card from T-mobile ?

You need to be on the rival carrier that you have the phone contract with for 90 days before you can go over to T-Mobile to submit the rebate, so a phone bought from Verizon would have already been automatically unlocked at day 60…

The REALLY nice thing is that if you're coming with a new phone from Verizon then T-Mobile will give you the digital prepaid cards BEFORE you actually pay Verizon off (after the 90 days have passed and you submit your rebates)…

https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/s...er=verizon

It's the 4th step here:

Quote :
"Submit for rebate & sign up for your T-Mobile ID.
You'll need your SIM card and the screen shot of your device payment plan balance. After you receive your prepaid card, you can use it to pay off your device balance."
So you don't have to possibly max out a credit card to pay off your phone contracts…you can just use the digital prepaid cards to pay off the phone contracts at Verizon!

Do you know if you have to unlock first before you can submit for rebate. I have a line on att and it says that "sprint customers are not eligible" so I was wondering if I have to pay it off and then I would qualify.

I'm quite sure an-unlocked Verizon device will work on T-Mobile ( at least that is the case for iOS devices )..

With ATT you need to pay the phone off first and request ATT to unlock it (which might take 1-3 days) before you can try to submit for the rebate with T-Mobile…

As for T-Mobile thinking that you're a sprint customer instead of an ATT customer…Do you have an old sprint (or one of their cheaper brands) number being used for this ATT account?

I went to ATT from sprint so I just changed my phone number with ATT (it's even a BRAND NEW phone number!!) since T-Mobile had previously recognized my old sprint phone number…

Not sure it'll resolve everything, but fingers crossed!
