USB 3.1 Gen 2 has a max speed of 10Gbps (gigabits). That equals a theoretical max of 1.25GB/s (gigabytes) or 1250MB/s. Factor in 10-15% overhead for USB, which means that 1050/1000 MB/s is nearing the practical limit of the interface.
The drive inside is likely capable of higher speeds, but the USB interface is holding it back.
Example: I'm a photographer who travels sometimes hundreds or thousands of miles away to shoot weddings, so I back up the cards via laptop to these SSDs the same night at the hotel.
Sometimes when I'm on vacation and it's a rainy day, I might stay in to cull weddings that may be as large as 300-400GB each. Hence, why I have multiple 2TB externals (some are SanDisk, some are NVMes slotted into a USB-C adapter).

Do you think you can return a flash drive or SD card for that coupon?
