Um.. that was not their point. In fact, quite the opposite.

USB 3.1 Gen 2 has a max speed of 10Gbps (gigabits). That equals a theoretical max of 1.25GB/s (gigabytes) or 1250MB/s. Factor in 10-15% overhead for USB, which means that 1050/1000 MB/s is nearing the practical limit of the interface.

The drive inside is likely capable of higher speeds, but the USB interface is holding it back.
I'll save you a click. There's a current $30 off promo for 1TB and 2TB: $109.99 and $219.99. Pretty good if you don't want to wait another month to buy.
Very useful for photographers and videographers, as well as anyone who backs up files on location and/or edits on location.

Example: I'm a photographer who travels sometimes hundreds or thousands of miles away to shoot weddings, so I back up the cards via laptop to these SSDs the same night at the hotel.

Sometimes when I'm on vacation and it's a rainy day, I might stay in to cull weddings that may be as large as 300-400GB each. Hence, why I have multiple 2TB externals (some are SanDisk, some are NVMes slotted into a USB-C adapter).

YMMV but you could get a better deal on the 2TB from Best Buy if you get the 15% discount coupon for trading in an old flash drive and using the Citi cash back offer. Of course this depends on whether you have the Citi deal on your card.

Do you think you can return a flash drive or SD card for that coupon?

Someone in another thread said they got the coupon by turning in a free promotional flash drive they received.

I bought the 1TB from Costco. Still inside packaging. Guess I don't need it.

You could buy now and then ask for a price match when the sale kicks in. Also use PayPal key to get 5% cash back on chase freedom/flex
