Asus seems to be moving away from this design of blowing hot air into the screen, since the new Zenbook 14X doesn't do that. So that's a negative for this model, hopefully fixed next gen.
The 1200p 100% DCI 16" screen is ideal for me, and I have an eGPU so the 3050 Ti is fine, but don't like the fan design. The screen reportedly hits 50C during gaming.
ZenBook 14 series never did that in the past. They don't come with a powerful GPU in the first place. That MX450 is a 15W-25W part. ZenBook is not their Gaming series in the 1st place.

Yeah. That's one of the reasons that I haven't bought one of these beasts. It's a pretty dumb design to exhaust on the screen and I've read that you can't really play anything, on an external monitor, with the screen closed because it blocks the vents.
Also, I've read from everyone and their mom, (reviewers too) that the screen latency is horrible, even on the high refresh. Bad for fast reflex gaming.
Here's a review of it with RTX 3070 and i9-11900H. Much higher specs but more heat too (I assume). Since heat is one of the cons on this model, maybe this down-spec model is a plus in that regard? https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asu...html#toc-8
Anyone know if BB purchase through eBay can be returned to a BB store?

Got this the last time it went on sale - people blast the 3050ti, but DLSS does help on games that support it, and it's perfect for my use case (light and discreet enough build to use as work laptop but lets me play recent games with some compromises on the settings). Way better than the Dell XPS it replaced - I don't think I can go back to a 60hz panel, even for productivity. Haven't noticed the screen getting ridiculously hot, but I'm also not gaming for more than a couple hours at a time.

However, this design also places the outputs just under the screen, which means that most of the hot air blows straight into the panel. That's one of my common complaints with most of the ultrabooks sold by Asus these days, and as you'll see in the Performance and Emissions sections, it's still something to be aware of and consider in your decision here.
+ Gram is lighter (2.98 lbs vs 4.4 lbs)
+ Gram has much better battery life (763 vs 463 minutes on Wifi)
+ Gram has 2 USB 4 ports
+- Gram has a 1440p display, but only 60Hz
- Gram doesn't have a dedicated GPU.
- Gram has a much slower CPU (4-core i7-1165G7 vs 8-core i7-11800H)
Well, depends on your use case! Do you need something that is much lighter, more portable, and has longer battery life? Or do you need the performance and speed of a dedicated GPU and 8-core processor? I don't think anyone can give you advice without knowing what you'll be using the machine for.

Very good specs and form-factor otherwise…
If I look at pictures of this model, the screen doesn't cover the vents at all when closed so I think an external monitor should be fine. There are cutouts in the screen for the vents.

3050 Ti will destroy the onboard graphics in the LG so depends if you will play games besides Roblox.

GPU, 16-core Neural Engine 32GB memory and 512 ssd.
I know the mac is probably faster but does the extra $1500 worth the extra performance?
