No. This battery provides more current for brushless applications but same amount of capacity. Watch a YouTube video to see performance comparisons. The 4x number is comparing vs a battery roughly 4x smaller.

The only thing that makes sense is that "standard lithium" means their small regular battery. 4AH is the capacity that is the total energy which is directly proportional to run time.

I like these. Price is OK. The smaller ones are basically useless unless you have a very short task and really want the lighter weight, like with a weed whip, portable hand vac, or maybe brief cordless drill use. I strongly prefer the larger ones for almost everything.

I have a dozen Ryobi 18V cordless tools, a variety of chargers and batteries, and have been using them for many years. They are consumer line. Period. If you expect heavy duty use, then buy contractor line.

$37 for 2 of the regular 4ah? What am I missing? I see $79.

I would stick with the standard $79 as long as they aren't old stock. If you have a Ryobi impact driver or drill, I highly recommend the 4ah packs. They make the tools heavier, but you don't have to worry about them going dead all the time. I struggled with 1.5ah packs for years and finally upgraded my batteries when they started dying....wish I had done it sooner. (I didn't because I had a bunch of batteries and chargers)

I wonder if there will be any black Friday bundles with this and tools...
Buy now before they run out of stock. If black friday have better deal.... return the old purchase. I already leaned my lesson. Sometimes black friday prices are more money. than regular sale. HD return policy is 90 days.

Their marketing confuses me, I got the HP brushless drill and impact set and got the HP batteries from tools direct thinking I needed them. But my HP drill/driver don't have the terminals for the HP battery. So how do you know what tools actually use the terminals ?

1.5A batteries are NOT useless, they work perfectly with nail guns or when two stories in the air; and some of us don't feel like having a 4A heavy battery. We have plenty of each...

I agree. I use my 1.5 A batteries in my 1 and 2 gallon sprayers. They last plenty long and no need to make things heavier than they need to be.

A couple years ago, they have the starter kit with two of this battery, a charger, and a tool bag for $99 (or $129?) plus a free tool bundled. I got a couple of those starter kit for around $50 each.
I remember that and I'm still mad I missed out.

Yes! I use the 1.5ah with my mail gun, pole saw and edger. Plenty of run time for what I need and the difference in weight makes a difference.

True... It was just nice having the big batteries when hurricane Ida hit. I could see having 1 or 2 smaller batteries for light projects but I don't need 7 of them

You should be confused. Everyone else is too.

They're doing this deliberately and the bottom line is they may make improvements, but it's more so to increase profits, pure and simple.

The regular 18v One+ batteries use 18650 cells, and guess what? The new HP batteries also use 18650 cells.

Did they optimize their discharge efficiency? Who knows, but that would be in the tool, not the battery cells..

I called Ryobi and got a bunch of gobbledygook. If you have NEW brush-less tools with the two NEW contacts, decide what you want to buy and buy it. There's no comparison chart or coherent explanation of the differences.. It's pure, 100% intentional, obfuscation intended to overwhelm people with bullshit.

That's known as 'the good ole' days".
Yesterday a Ryobi miter saw was FP at $99. I remember getting that saw as just One of two Free tools included a $150 bundle, a couple years ago.
