I agree. Good luck with "broken" promises. I bought one 2K flood light in January reading similar marketing gimmick " please stay tuned, homebase support will be available in the future software updates ".
We've had the doorbell since April. We have the battery version that can also be wired. We have it wired in where the old doorbell was, so no worry about charging a battery, but have battery back up in case we lose power. It works great, pretty quick response time on the app. We also have the lock, and really like that too.
I'll give you an honest quick review of the doorbell… I liked the doorbell a lot. It has a ton of features and the motion detection was decent. I really liked that it recorded 24/7. Mine broke after the first year. They sent me another one, but it was broken as well. My coworker had the same exact experience. I'm not sure if I would buy into the Eufy ecosystem if I were starting over.

However, for continually recording, I wouldn't suggest it due to the nature of local storage wear out problem. If there is a microsd slot that I can put microsd card to record the video and swap out when it wears out. When local flash get wear out and it brings all other components with it is definitely a nono to me and I know sooner or later it will happen. For triggering and recording video clips, probably it's ok. It's the trade off between subscription fee with local storage. So, it should be ok. Continuously recording will kill this device too soon. That is what I feel.
