Wait, Costco is actually able to get authentic A5 wagyu? I was under the impression that it's so rare that it's rarely exported, as they barely keep up with domestic demand. Costco is not only able to get them, but enough to sell to members?

You'd be surprised what they can source. When they get their "Kirkland" scotch in, the sub-$100 bottle stuff has a 1-case maximum. Quality/genuine is NOT something I've ever had to worry about with them.

My son wants to try this. He can want laugh out loud I told him to stay out of my $8/lb cheese . . .

If ignorance means that I am not buying $100/lb steak, then ignorance is probably a good thing.

You might be referring to "kobe" wagyu which is more limited and rare. There's several different wagyus from Japan you can get.

As reported last time, a lot of warehouses now sell this product in the freezer section in reasonable quantities for $100/lb.

For *most* people this will be a more reasonable size and purchase. Unlike normal steak, 8 oz is a lot of wagyu for one person.
I dont see my local warehouse caries these. Westcost however stocks them alot. Moving to Eastcoast limited supplies Frown

Costco is in 13 countries. I'm sure the local HQs in every country come up with good deals to the point some is exported to other countries. I watch a lot of Youtubers. I've seen videos inside Taiwan + Japanese Costcos. They look just like the ones in the US. Same everything. Colors, shelves, fonts on the rectangle item and price cards.
