Been using the phone since yesterday. Registered each finger twice and just pressing slightly harder seems to do the trick. I had a S21U before. It's nowhere near that level, but if you've used any OnePlus phones before then the experience is similar.
Great tip. Thanks.
Do you have a screen protector? If so, which material and brand?
I haven't used a screen protector in about 7 years and 5 phones. Only one phone in that time got a scratch. Are they really necessary these days? Even on the best ones I hate the seems they create.
Their will be micro scratches. Trust me, all of your phones has it. Take it out in the sun and look at it at an angle. You will see it for sure. That's why i put a screen protector on my phone.

I'm using the Supershieldz film protector in this post. It's only temporary until some legit glass is made. If not then I guess I'll be rocking this for awhile lol.
Ordered the amFilm from Amazon, but I might return it. The glass with the black edges usually have terrible adhesive. You can make it better by getting some LOCA and adding it, but you risk glue dripping out the sides.
Regarding glass screen protectors - I've tried several different brands on my Samsung phone with a curved screen, and they all leave an air gap between the protector and the screen. Which adds a lot of glare and reduces contract. The fingerprint sensor did work on most of them, but still, I much prefer TPU film. In my experience, the best ones are those that have 3 separate peel-off sheets. (Peel the center film and position it, then bend it back and peel off the top section and stick it, then band back and peel off the bottom section.)

So for me, I only use glass screen protectors and only on phones with flat edges. In that scenario, I don't notice them in use at all.
I will say, on the curved phones I have used with no protector, I have gotten micro scratching in every case. Nothing major that you can see in use, just small scratches that are visible if you hold the phone at an angle under a light source. Don't bother me in use but I always disclose them when I'm selling a phone used.
I've never tried a screen protector that didn't make me feel like touch sensitivity was adversely affected. Damien from 9to5Google reported problematic touch unlock with a *tempered glass* protector on Pixel 6 (not sure whether Pro version or regular) on yesterday's Q&A.
Same here - currently sporting S21+ with a glass protector and fingerprint sensor is a major PITA (combined with my typically dry skin). I basically have to moist my finger in order to get the fingerprint read reliably.
I completely agree on cost, that's worth it without question. It's more the look and functionality of them I don't like. Correlated with the question of necessity it's a tough choice for me personally.
You cannot tell that there's a protector on my phone - by looks or functionality. Seems crazy to not have one.
