It's personal preference. I prefer 2 smaller batteries to 1 big battery for most jobs.

1) smaller batteries are lighter.
2) you can have one or more on the charger while using one.
3) If a battery dies and it's out of warranty, it's not as big of a loss... I have lots of em.

For a drill or sawsall or anything I might use overhead, smaller is better.

For a circular saw... Doesn't matter.

For the 60v blower which burns through power, I wouldn't want to be swapping batteries every 3 minutes either... That's a tool where bigger is definitely better.

Your deal is cheaper per amp but sometimes it's nice to have to swap batteries to give my back a break.

I am expanding my flexvolt horizon to have
- grinder [just bought]
- circular saw
- chain saw
- (perhaps replace current 20V string trimmer)
- (perhaps replace current 20V blower)

So you're saying that out of all this, 6Ah is fine except for the blower?

6ah is fine for light use, but once it loses a bar, you can hear and feel the voltage drop. If you're using the table saw or angle grinder consistently, 9ah is crucial (ideally 12ah, but $$). The standard fast charger does 6ah in 60 mins, 9ah in 90. Angle grinder probably eats the 6ah in 15 minutes of heavy use.

I use the dewalt mower, and even though they sell it as a package with the dual 5ah, it overheats the batteries and it basically means you're done working even though there's about 1/3 of that 5ah left. Using a set of 6ah works wonderful - and I'm absolutely curious if it'll take the 9ah.
