No, lowest I've seen it was last month when it was 450, I picked one up then, not worth it IMO.

Been using a 43" as a desktop monitor for years. Perfect size. Allows you to display multiple windows for spreadsheets, etc and then use a full screen for videos. I do not sit right up on it. Allows you to sit comfortably at a 3 1/2 ft distance with pullout keyboard tray.

Would you elaborate on why you don't think it's worth it? I've been in the market for a new monitor and been looking at the comparable Dell or LG, but this is almost half the cost

I have been using a samsung 40" tv as a main monitor for years, since they are not producing 40" 4k panels anymore a 43" panel is pretty much the only option if you want to use 4k at 100% scaling. And usually good quality 43" 4k tv panels start at around $500. Imho with all the features this monitor has its a pretty good deal at $442. I just bought one thanks OP!

In opinion, these are good if you mostly need a tv and not a monitor. 4k at 43 inches is not a great dpi and sitting close to this will make your neck hurt following the cursor around

Have to disagree with you on 43" being the only option for 4k at 100% scaling. I use two 32" 4k at 100% with no issues. Even have to set most webpages at 80-90%. Unless you have bad vision, 32" 4k is perfect.

Sorry, thats correct, I do have a 16" 1080p monitor too which is the same as your 32" 4k pixel density wise. However, if I try to keep it at a "healty" distance I dont feel comfortable. I use it right behind the keyboard at an angle below the 40" monitor which I am going to be replacing with this 43". (My eye sight is ok btw). Imho 40" was the best option to use as a desktop monitor.

A va panel for couch viewing is fine but not when you're desk length away

I use a 32 inch LG Ultrafine 4K at a 125% scaling as my primary monitor and love it. I do not scale any apps or browsers - just the Windows interface.

32 inch also has 140 PPI versus the 106 PPI or so this Samsung has, which is very low. 32 inch is the sweet spot for most people.

I was looking at this for a different room, but the 250 nits kills it - too dim for a room with some direct sun.

42 inch is humongous. Firstly, it's extremely difficult to find a quality, especially sit/stand, desk that has the necessary depth to use one.

Secondly, you want a 42 inch at a minimum of 3 feet from your eyes according to manufacturers, but that's too close IMHO, especially for such a big screen. It's easy to get neck cramps, and it's probably not healthy for your eyes.

And yes, I tested it out with a 42 inch 4K TV we have, and it was way too big. I got a 32 inch 4K, which feels perfect to me.

42 inch on a regular desktop is not ideal for most people, IMHO.
