This RIDGID comes with a 12-volt power cord (connects to cigarette lighter thingy), so you can have best of both worlds and not have to open your hood.

I worked at Depot for many years. For both being Home Depot exclusive tools, we always considered Ridgid to be better quality.

Ridgid also has lifetime service. Just register the warranty, and if you have any issues you're supposed to be able to get it to a nearby service center and get it repaired for free.

Most of that post is incorrect.

Individual batteries are now covered. You can get service at most Home Depot rental centers. I haven't had to physically mail in a receipt in well over a decade. Uploading/emails work just fine.

How about you leave the Ridgid commentary to people that actually have personal experience with Ridgid rather than spreading rumors and misinformation?

where to get a battery and charger deal for this device?

Depends on if you want one with the lifetime warranty.

If you don't mind not having the warranty, just buy it used on places like OfferUp, ebay etc. You can pickup a 4ah MAX battery for around $45.

I have a battery powered one from Amazon that is similar. I have a slow leak on one tire on my car and have to put 10-12psi in it every day to drive anywhere. One full charge lasts about a week or longer of uses. No need for cables or anything and it charges from usb.

In any case whether this one or another type I highly recommend getting one of these. Total life saver. This and a portable car battery jumper/charger that also charges my phone if I need. I've only needed the jumper once but it was like 50 bucks and totally worth the peace of mind.

Just my 2 cents.
Maybe get your tire patched instead of having to fill the tire on a daily basis?

Just my 2 cents…

I have one of these. Works well and the battery last awhile. Leave it in the car as I have a tire with a slow leak that I'm too lazy to fix.

5 min on/5 min off is the duty cycle. Might take you a while to fill from flat to 32 psi.
That's terrible duty cycle time. How much air can you put in for 5 minutes?

I can go from 25 to 35 on a sedan tire in about 1 minute...

Why not just buy a battery adapter for $10-$15 on ebay to convert a ryobi or dewalt? Or of you are near a car, it comes with a cigarette adapter.

I really wish this was a dual function like the ryobi that also has the option for low pressure high volume inflation, for things like beach toys and air mattresses.

I own this and laid full retail for it. It is very convenient but has some flaws. Number one... It is loud as hell! It's something I don't like using without ear protection... Yes it's that loud. Next is 5 min on and then you have to wait 5 off. I personally don't and use it to top off tires only. 3rd... I wanted it for low psi use which it doesn't do. It won't stop filling if it's set below 12 psi. That means all ATV tires, soccer ball, footballs, etc. So that's rather dangerous to have an auto shutoff not shut off, no? 4th... It dances all over the place and falls over when in use. This isn't worth $70+ but if you have Ridgid tools you might say it is because you can grab and go for a quick fill.

Almost none of these compressors are good at BOTH high psi, low volume applications like tires or low psi high volume applications like an inflatable mattress. I'd buy each separately.

how is this deal rated compared to the ryobi one (for $20)?

ignoring the price, would rigid inflator be better than ryobi?
Quote from agentsteve :
My thoughts exactly. The newer model Ryobi ones are also digital, so this really seems like slapping some orange paint on the Ryobi version and doubling the price.

The Ridgid one does let you set the target pressure and automatically stops, but that's about it.
Their is a vid comparing the Ryobi, the more expensive Ryobi, to this Ridgid. The Ridgid filled a tire two times faster from 25psi to 32 psi.

Orange paint does make a difference.

I dont own the Ridgid inflator. Not sure if the straight chuck will work on the motorcycle with the brake rotor close to the valve stem. Also, the chuck could be improved from what I saw in the vid..

The HD service center locally replaced an older non brushless drill for a brushless drill kit a couple years ago. The new drill is the top of the line drill with the better clutch and more tq. The kit contained drill, 2 bats, charger and bag. HD only kept the drill and told me to keep the original bat and charger both with LSA.
