Buy 2 from staples and apply the promo code given in this slickdeal. It's $20 off $100. so it will $50 each.

Additional 15% if you have discover rewards. Redeem discover rewards for staples e-gift card. Buy $100 gift card for $85 rewards points.

The code works for nest audio. Not working for Hub Max

So you have a vested reason to disbelieve this statement, and no explanation for why you disbelieve it, but yet think it is inaccurate..?

But, yeah, you're objectively wrong (and it isn't close): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hac_44tJBlo

Because, surprise, in speakers there's no replacement for displacement and the Nest Audio has more displacement.

Can anyone speak to how the sound quality of these compare to the o.g. Google Home? I have several around the house I'd consider replacing if it's a significant upgrade.

Also, what are the odds we see these drop to $50/pc during the holiday season - perhaps 2 for $99?

Sound quality is definitely much better than the original google home, especially at this price.

Shopping season isn't the same anymore. It basically started a week ago. You have to take every deal over the course of the month as it comes. For comparison, I messed around and bought the mint color for my wife @ $75 direct from Google... That deal was earlier this year. If you wanna bet on waiting, this might not be the year for that since there's no precedent.

Specs for the speaker 3/4" tweeter, 3" woofer, and 30 watt power supply. This will sound better than the hockey puck style speaker with a smaller driver and power supply.

is google going to allow youTube music users to stream to these speakers without paying for the youTube Music subscription ?

I'm scared to buy more google speakers, but i'm glad I can still stream to my existing google speakers using Spotify.

thanks

IDK if it has something to do with where I placed the speaker (wifi strength etc), but mine has a much harder time hearing me than my google home minis

Yes and no. They limit the functionality of services unless you pay in to the premium status (same as Amazon does for Amazon music). Unless you get a promo with a purchase of the speaker or sign up for free trial periods with YouTube music premium, you will be able to play playlists and radio stations but not specific songs upon request.
Quote from Google support page:
"YouTube Music*, Spotify Free*, Pandora* – You'll get a station of songs inspired by the song, album or artist that you requested (free radio service).

YouTube Premium*, YouTube Music Premium*, Spotify Premium*, Apple Music*, Pandora Premium*, Deezer Premium* – You'll get specific songs, albums or artists along with music based on genre, mood or activity or your personal playlists."

Anyone have experience comparing these with the Sonos One? Seems web reviews range from, "really close in sound quality" to "just buy the Sonos".

I only have one of the One's, and am considering selling it and buying a few of these to place throughout my home. Good or bad idea?

I'm in the same situation. I am really annoyed by the connectivity on Sonos -- For music, unless you use Spotify which allows you to easily switch which device to play music on (on all platforms), you have to use their app (which just sucks a lot) to play music, unless you happen to be using an iPhone, iPad or Mac and do AirPlay. And Sonos One (first gen) only supports 802.11b/g on 2.4G network which is just sad for a product released in 2017, and I had to set up a network specifically for that, or use a wired connection. The connectivity for Sonos is really frustrating, while it is much better experience with Google products. I see some reviews that say Sonos offers a superior sound quality, but I doubt I am able to tell that, and the ability to cast music or podcast easily matters more to me.

It may not necessarily be Sonos' fault to not support Chromecast, for whatever reason out there, but as a user I just find that the lack of this ability makes it much more difficult for me to just the product.

Edit: 802.11b/g, not n, which is worse
