these feel like garbage...
they're certainly not the same level of other Fatmax tapes.

Agreed. I lost my fatmaxs of old and just saw these in home Depot. Definitely feel way less sturdy.

they have that "built for a bigbox store" look and feel... like when they swap out metal gears and put plastic in with a special PN that's just a bit different for kitchen mixers Wink

yeah, it's too bad. i'm a big fan of FatMax stuff in general too, have lots of their box levels and a few hammers that are great.

Still better than milwaukee and dewalt tapes, but what do U expect for 2/$20. The nice fat max are $25 each

I went to the store and looked over all 3. (Dewalt, this, and Milwaukee) .

I am not a contractor and do not use these on a daily basis...but I do use them a fair amount.
I see a lot of comments ...but all 3 looked like solid tape measures.

The best of the 3 seemed like the Dewalt. It is well made and the increments are labeled too. It does not hurt that these are just under $15 for 2.

The next best tape is the Fatmax. The glossy film over the tape enhances the view and the tape can extend...possibly farther than any of the others without assist and bending. But at almost $20....I am not sure that the extra $5 is justified.

Lastly is Milwaukee...good units....but I saw nothing that made it stand out over the other 2 choices.
I might choose them over the Fatmax due to being $5 less. At the very least, that would make it a draw.

Hope this helps.

In choosing tapes, I tend to pick the one that is not so hard to lock and unlock. The Fat Max felt like the most difficult one to do so.

I agree, for the DIY or people that just do home projects the dewalt felt the best out of the 3. I dont think you need to spend a ton of money on a tape measure unless it will be on your belt for everyday use, these sets will do you just fine.

One place in the "specifications" states metric/SAE but no where else. Can anyone confirm it is dual? My two other Stanley tapes are dual.

25ft 2 packs always go on sale at around this price . I just wish they would place the 16ft fatmax on sale every once in a while ! One 25ft is nice to have in hand but rarely ever needed for most and it's huge !
