These Panasonic 4K Blu-ray players are the best ones because they have built in HDR Tone Mapping and HDR Optimizer. No other Blu-ray players available have this, not even the game consoles.

If your TV (or projector) does not support Dolby Vision, get the 420.

I'd your TV does support Dolby Vision, get the 820.

Note, Dolby Vision content will bypass the Tone Mapping & Optimizer.

Streaming interface isn't great with these. Get a Roku or Apple TV for that.

I use the 420 with my projector. It is fantastic.

Does anyone know if the remote is infrared? I like keeping my AV equipment in a closest and have enjoyed devices with blue tooth remotes or smartphone apps.

Streaming stick devices are Bluetooth but also have IR for TV input and volume control... My TiVo 4K streamer and Fire stick 4k both have that... If your AV setup is in a closet then you may not have volume control...

Depends if you are trying to upgrade to 4k, the oppo you have is just regular blu ray, the preamp you have can certainly handle 4k pass through. Considering the preamp you have the Panasonic dp- ub820- k would match better

I'm sure it is but plenty of alternatives like an ir extender and this having Alexa I'm sure there is an app you can use to control it. Do some research.

I didnt spend $2k on an OLED to not use Dolby Vision. Ill wait for a 820 deal, but this sounds awesome for non-DV TVs.

LG has a solid 4k player with Dolby vision for everyday price of $250
