I can't imagine owning a Garmin watch without a sapphire screen. I've abused the 5 Plus for over two years and the screen still looks like new.

An deals on the Fenix 5 x + Sapphire? Is the 6 much of an upgrade?
I have the 5x plus and it makes me feel filthy that the 6 screen is that much larger for the same form factor. There are a lot of new features on the 6 like the battery saver that make QOL improvements. I'm holding out for a touchscreen Fenix for the next upgrade.

Been using 5x plus since July 2018 and have zero regrets for paying 600 for it.
It's a good upgrade but mine still looks new.

FYI Garmin Fenix 6 on sale for $350 at some retailers. I've been a 3HR user forever and briefly played around with Instinct which I gave as a gift. I really think I'm going Instinct Solar even though I'm a runner about to train for another half. Feels so good on wrist and visibility much better.

I've beat up my 6pro non sapphire rock climbing and mountain biking, since the day it came out, literally scraping the face on rocks and screen still looks perfect. Even non sapphire screens are pretty great

That's great to hear. Garmin must be adding something to the Gorilla Glass 3 used on the non sapphire models. All the best...

There is a deal for a refurbished Fenix 5X plus Sapphire (ordered mine from there last month and it did look new to me) for $318.

I hated that it doesn't have touch screen when I first got it. But after using it for outdoor runs, I am glad that it doesn't have touch screen.

Clicked on this deal out of curiosity, I'm looking for a smartwatch. So why are these Garmins so expensive compared to Samsung watches, for example? And no touchscreen? (and why is that good?) Thank you for any input!

Touch screen doesn't work well if wet. Like when you're working out hard and have sweaty fingers, or swimming. So buttons are actually superior IMO.
