Weird, on Costco site showed as $299....
It's not any more, at least not for me. Maybe it was a price mistake that has now been fixed?

I was able to get one. I think they are speaking about this one. Its OOS now. It was listed at 349 but when you went to Costco it was 299.97

I got it yesterday from Costco warehouse and I have to say I'm impressed with the speed and quality of the laptop. I got it for my daughter and it's more than enough for her needs. I like the 14 inch because it's lightweight and 15.6 is just too big.

HP 14" Laptop - 11th Gen Intel Core i3-1125G4 ......
This is the superior 11th gen mobile i3 with a 10000 rating at Passmark. Some number of cores and same 10000 as the latest 11th gen i5. I kid you not! .......the i5-1135G7
Had not realized how close the Passmark scores were between this and the actual i5 for a CPU I'd termed an i5 in all but name in another thread. If you want to get the same performance and can accept the larger (hence, cheaper) 15.6" platform grab the Target deal. Otherwise, you're basically paying the $40 premium for the more compact/portable 14" form factor.

What the i5 has is superior graphics @ Iris Xe. About 30% better than what the i3-1125G4 has Which iirc are properly called UHD 630 Xe (no Iris)

i5 11th gen mobile and on up have the better Iris graphics...
I appreciate that you saved this part of the comparison for last. The top line story between the i3-1125G4 and the i5 options in this generation is that you get all the CPU horsepower for less. The asterisk is indeed the different graphics configuration. The improvements provided by Xe graphics are non-trivial, but don't exactly result in the i5 being some kind of gaming powerhouse. As such, and considering the type of general productivity systems these CPUs will power, I don't personally like to play up any significant value to that graphics subsystem.

I do, however, look forward to a future generation when even that distinction is likely eliminated between the different main line tiers of CPUs for Intel. If only AMD would start releasing some budget powerhouses to create some pressure in this space!

Good luck!
Jon

It's currently $379.99 on the website too, so I'm not sure what you can get a price adjustment to. Supposedly it was briefly $299, but without proof, and without it being the current price, I'd say you are out of luck.

There were two similar but different laptops. An older model with Win 10 was being blown out at $299.97. The other has Win 11 and faster RAM for $379.99. If you got the latter, I don't think you'd be able to price match.

This i3 processor's processing power is on par with i5s of this generation and tier. But the similar i5s may have better graphics performance.

I would at least consider this Dell for $70 more: https://deals.dell.com/en-us/productdetail/bai6

The Dell gets you:
- much nicer build quality (aluminum lid and keyboard deck)
- full-service USB-C (that supports DisplayPort and power, which I believe this HP does not)
- about 40% higher battery capacity
- easy upgradability (2 SODIMM slots, 8GB is occupying only one slot); based on my experience the HP will also be much harder to open up for RAM and other upgrades;
- much more reliable Intel wifi/BT than the Realtek chip used by HP
- gray keys, with much better visibility than the HP's white-on-silver keys
- fingerprint reader

These are not the headline specs, but they make a huge difference in usability. IMHO well worth the price difference.

I have the Dell and it's a shockingly nice computer for the midrange of the Inspiron lineup - in some ways it feels nicer than a Inspiron 7000 series that a family member has.
This is so true. Having USB-C that supports charging and Audio/Video is so important as almost every device nowadays is having USB-C
