I bought two of these for my kids. Never again. They're messy and it's just more cheap plastic chinesium that's going to end up in the ocean.

This is one of the worst products i've seen on Slickdeals. Concur with previous poster -- Chinesium garbage. Also 5 upvotes immediately is suspicious.

Wow, talk about some buzzkills! You are literally breaking apart dirt/clay - of course it's going to be really messy and it suppose to be done outside on a sidewalk or driveway.

Do you also complain about Legos? How about action figures? Or basically any toy made in the last 80 years? It's all plastic - and decades ago it was much, much worse plastic as well (environmentally speaking). These at least include real fossils, some motor skills and can spark an interest in archeology - which is a lot more than 90% of what else is out there.

A bit dramatic. Kids love messy stuff. It's Macys not Amazon and it's Discovery brand. For $5 is far from the worst thing ever posted on SD lol.

Someone gave my kids a dinosaur bone thing like this. Yeah big mess but I put them outside and they had a blast with it. Still got the bones!

Strong hate up front. I'll echo the last couple people, these are fun for outdoor play, it's essentially clay or plaster that they're digging through. $5 to kill a couple hours, well worth it IMO.

Sweet deal! My 3 year old loves these! Like others have said it is messy but you can just do it outside. My hubby helps so my son doesn't hurt himself with the hammer. Not sure if this set comes with safety goggles like the National Geographic geode sets do. Cheap Xmas gift!
