If you have never played a Chronicles game know that the three games are 2.5D stealth platformers that build on some established lore from the main franchise.
Plots
China: You play as Shao Jun, a student of Ezio, who returns to China during the Ming dynasty.
India: You play as Arbaaz Mir during the war between the East India Company and Sikh Empire.
Russia: You play as Nikolai Orelov who is searching for Anastasia because she has a connection with Shao Jun.
Chronology: Name (Year story takes place in) - format
Revelations (1511) - 3D game
Embers [youtube.com] (1524) - CGI film
China (1526) - 2D platformer
...
Unity (1776 - 1808) - 3D Game
Aveline (1784) - AC IV Black Flag DLC
Brahman (1839) - Comic book series
India (1841) - 2D platformer
...
Jack the Ripper (1868) - Syndicate DLC
The Fall & The Chain (1888) - Comic book series
Russia (1918) - 2D Platformer
Context:
To best appreciate the game's characters you need to complete the item listed directly above the game in my chronology list since it introduces the character. (The first item was the last regular game to give people who played the regular series a clue where it fits in the overall franchise.)
Without context, the stories feel flat, but even with it Chronicles is not exactly a masterpiece. I included a YouTube link to the movie Embers, which is just over 21 minutes and is a fairly easy view. If you want to play these games watch Embers and then play China. If:
you don't like the game stop because it doesn't get better in India or Russia
you like the gameplay put think that the story is boring just play India and then Russia
If you think the story is cool read the listed comics before you play the games
Franchise Connection:
There is a secret ending that requires you to not only beat all three Chronicles games but to pay attention during the games. It's unlocked in Russia and helps connect a plot point introduced in Unity and carried through Rogue and Syndicate.
Ubisoft has 35th-anniversary sale, and these games are discounted as well:
Unity [ubi.com] $4.50
Rogue [ubi.com] $6.60
Syndicate [ubi.com] $7.50 or $15.00 for gold
Future Games:
It would be surprising to see them introduce more Chronicles games based on how these were received. The trilogy was a unique take on the franchise and it might have been a little too ambitious of a project. Starting with a short film and two comic books series the three games came together to introduce a twelve-issue comic called Assassin's Creed Uprising. The price of these comics is trending up but they can be read on comiXology [comixology.com](an Amazon company) free for a month and $5.99 a month after.

Side scrolling should be for Nintendo handhelds. (3DS, 2DS) Just prejudiced.
Also... I really hope the OP was initially super vague and the post was subsequently edited, because if not, and based upon the replies I weep for the dumbing down of America.
