Was considering the Home Depot 6ah &4ah batteries with the saw as a tool. Did I miss the bus or is this better? I mostly wanted the batteries from the deal and I just happen to need a saw

How does this compare to the Makita one that's going for 150 after the hack? Basic homeowner stuff.

Last thanksgiving, I snagged the Milwaukee fuel, this thing looks like a toy standing next to the Fuel version, but this is a pretty good deal with 8Ah battery
.
Having used all three, including the Makita 36v, I have to call absolute BS.

The saws are all very similar in size and within a pound of each other. While all perform similar when running, the Milwaukee makes less cuts per amp of battery and if using steady, timed out from overheating. While the 36v Makita is a good saw, it requires two batteries and without timing out from overheating like the Milwaukee, has about the same power; albeit the odd 'soft start.' The DeWalt is simply faster than both and just as fast as my corded Makita when using the 8amp 20v, or the 9amp Flexvolt.

When it comes to dust clearance, I would have to agree that the DeWalt is a bit behind both the Makita and Milwaukee and the DeWalt handle is a bit small if you have large hands and working with heavier winter gloves.

Nevertheless, the OP DeWalt being a "toy" is nonsense. While it typically boils down to what battery platform you are already invested in, this DeWalt is more powerful and cheaper.

When I said toy, it exactly what I meant, the handle is so small like a toy

Don't know about the so called hack, but the Makita 36v is a good saw. Just remember the 36v takes two batteries. If you are talking 18v Makita, then this DeWalt is the one you want.

While this saw will run on whatever battery, you will not get it's full potential until using the included 8amp 20v, or the 9amp Flexvolt. More cells, more wattage available. If just for around the house and occasional usage, the multiple batteries might be my choice if I needed more batteries. 10amp total over 8amp, but are the chargers the same?

Not sure about the 4amp, but the 6amp does have the larger 21650 cells that releases more wattage per time frame than say the 18650 cells that are typical in the 5amp. Some of the 4amp we have, also have the larger cells and quite noticeable side by side with the 5amp. You still only get the amp capacity, but more wattage is released per time frame that helps to feed this saw, or any power hungry tool.

lol.... So you went through my pros and cons and had to choose something?

Just guessing that the only place you have seen these side by side is in the store. Try using them and the Milwaukee is the toy with timing out from being overheated. Just something one should know can happen if needing to do production work. About 80 feet of 3/4" marine ply with a new blade and that light on front flashes that it is time for a coffee break.... lol.

My hands are larger than most and no problem with summer gloves, but find heavier winter gloves can be a bit of a problem. And that is fine, because most of the time I am not wearing any gloves that are always a pia for the safety switches and trigger pulls on all saws. My guys fight over the OP DeWalt and about to buy another to retire the prior XR version.

Nice saw with 6.0Ah battery or better. A little weak with 5.0Ah but usable.

I don't believe I have ever seen a plastic guard on a circular saw. No, it seems to be cast aluminum, but maybe magnesium. The base is aluminum and although not quite as smooth as magnesium polished to same level, it is hard for me to tell the difference.
