You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

I thought we were forced to pay a minimum now if we become a new Xfinity mobile customer. How can we go with just $1.13 per month/just taxes per month?
You can do the $15 shared by the gig plan and have multiple lines on it. Turn off data and all you'll get charged are taxes and fees which is around $2.5 per line Chicago suburbs.

Good find OP. I saw this tonight too but you beat me to it posting it here. Repped.

They changed their plans a while back and now it is a minimum of $15/m for most users, assuming all lines do not use more than 1GB data combined. Any fraction of data over 1GB counts as another GB, so add another $15 for each GB you go over. They also have discounted rates if you see yourself using more than 1GB/month. You can choose a 3GB for $30 plan, or a 10GB for $60/m plan, again shared across all lines. Or if someone needs unltd data, they can have their own rate for $45/m. It's all on their plans page.
Is there a 24-month contract?

Bummer, Tello is not on the list. They really don' reference this list anywhere in the promo. How are we supposed to know? Does anyone have experience with BYOD promo with a carrier not on the list? I do have a GV number I can use, but already entered the tello number in the initial order.

Update: Actually, the very last 'carrier' on the page is listed as "Other". I don't know if this page is an actual list of eligible carriers or just a support page. I think if it was strictly enforced they would reference a list somewhere in the promo terms.
I would like to port from Tello as well. Can anyone confirm if it's possible?

Do they transfer from Ting? Target has the $1 sim card promo right now, which has $30 of credit.

I've not done anything like this before. Does each person within a plan receive $200 when bringing in their qualifying phone (e.g., $400 total for two people)?

It should still work, I ported from a landline once and still qualified.

No contract, but you have to keep the line active for 90 days to meet the terms of the promo. You also need to have xfinity internet or other xfinity service to avoid paying the $20/m line surcharge.

There seems to be another promotion for referring a friend as well. Could we combine both? I have xfinity internet. Could my wife sign up for mobile service under my account and will we both get the $25 each and she get the $200 as well? Any idea?

I already have the one gig plan for my mom and I'm trying to port my phone from Verizon prepaid, and my only options are unlimited or stick with her one gig plan. I want to do the three gig plan but it's not an option for some reason. Can I change it later?
