You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

Anyone???
I don't see why not. According to my Xfinity dashboard, to Refer a Friend so both people get the Bonus (a VISA prepaid card), I need to use the Xfinity website to send the referral link:
  1. Your friends will receive your referral through an email or Facebook post. They must click the link to begin the activation process.
  2. They'll be directed to a Refer-A-Friend landing page to activate the referral.
  3. They then have 30 days to order eligible Xfinity services.
  4. You and your friends will receive Visa Prepaid Cards in the mail after new eligible Xfinity services are installed and you remain a customer in good standing for 90 days.
Comment:
So, to make this work, you would need to send your email address to someone you know with an existing Xfinity account, and have them send you a referral link through the Xfinity website.

I used the old Refer-A-Friend program by email, and generally it worked but sometimes required calling Xfinity to get them to send the bonus.

I don't have Facebook, so I can't comment on the Facebook post process.

I don't think so.. i am xfinity mobile customer for past 5 years.. changed to numerous unlocked phones.. but xfinity site still shows same old phone with my number in site... so just activate it.. after that you can transfer to any phone.
Thank you for the response. So to qualify for the promo just activate with the phone and then swap them out to the actual phone?

I spoke with Xfinity incentive tracker customer service. The rep told me if you already received a prepaid rewards card on a previous BYOD promotion you will not be eligible for this one. They track it by device IMEI. Rep said BYOD offers have been rejecting for about a year due to this change in who is eligible. This contradicts the fact that my cart showed the offer after I entered the device's IMEI at checkout which had qualified on previous BYOD offers and terms/conditions does not state what the rep told me.

I tried 7 different IMEI numbers, including an iphone 12 mini, Samsung galaxy A50, all of them unlocked...so far NONE of them shows compatible with XM. Something is not right.

how long have you been with xfinity? if you already have 5 lines and have been with them for a few years, call xm rep and ask them to escalate and to get you more lines.

No contract, but you have to keep the line active for 90 days to meet the terms of the promo. You also need to have xfinity internet or other xfinity service to avoid paying the $20/m line surcharge.
When was the last time you ported in a Google voice number and got the reward? I did that too a year or so ago. I think it should still be good to do this time? Or shall I use a different carrier.

Do they transfer from Ting? Target has the $1 sim card promo right now, which has $30 of credit.

https://www.target.com/p/ting-sim...nk=sametab
When you get ting does porting the number automatically cancel ting? Or do you have to jump through hoops to cancel service?
