You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

Not anymore. That was only for the early people who signed up a long time ago. Now whether you sue data or not you get charged $15.
that is what i was trying to say but looks like i didn't say it here the right way. yeah it's minimum $15 plus taxes and fees per line if you turn off data. good catch though.

Don't believe anything xfinity tells you if you haven't seen it in writing.

They told me if I signed up and changed my mind before activating the phone it wouldn't start. I kept the phone for weeks before activating... It had started my cycle from weeks before I activated.

They told me that I could go to the store and get a sim card even though a shipped one was on the way. I walked in rain and then got told oops no you cant do it, it's too early.

Before I activated, I told them they changed $25 promotion to $50 and asked if I activate can i get the $50. They said yes, I activated, they sent me the $25 and then said oh well nothing they could do about someone lying to me that I'd get the $50.

So I moved on to mint for 6 months at $20 total combined ($45 plus tax minus almost $30 for sellig the free guy steelbook).

And of course they changed $25 to $50 and now $200. lol. So my timing was way off, getting $175 less than now.
man you definitely got bamboozled. once you buy the phone and receive it, it will be pretty complicated if you change your mind. you will depend on the reps etc etc. i've learned my lesson before, never trust the reps. but once you have done a few of this deals, you will learn how to work the system.

Did they just upgrade their network or something? I remember checking device compatibility during summer on their website and it passed. I just checked it now and it said my phone (Google Pixel 3a XL) isn't compatible.
weird. my OG Pixel, Pixel 3XL, Pixel 3a alll passed. did you recently use that phone on their network maybe?

How did you unlock the number? In your Google voice account? I hope you get this working since I want to do similar.
I unlocked here: https://www.google.com/voice/b/0/unlock
Xfinity is still telling me the phone number is not eligible for transfer. I am going to wait 5 business days to see if it works after that.

When I go to sign up for xfinity internet, I get this message at the bottom: "GET $300 BACK WHEN YOU ADD XFINITY MOBILE Complete your Internet purchase. Then head to xfinitymobile.com and add an Xfinity Mobile line to receive your $300 Visa® Prepaid Card." Is this the same deal, but better? I was planning to wait until Nov 17 to sign up for both, because I have a different 12-month commitment for internet until Dec. 3.

There seems to be another promotion for referring a friend as well. Could we combine both? I have xfinity internet. Could my wife sign up for mobile service under my account and will we both get the $25 each and she get the $200 as well? Any idea?

Anyone???
