You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

Not seeing Ting in their list, wonder if it falls under Other?
I have a feeling porting from _any_ carrier will be eligible. The terms state:
Quote :
"Requires transfer of phone number from another carrier within 30 days of line activation."
it does not say from "an eligible carrier" or some other restrictive language. I am going to try with Tello, and am prepared to fight it. Someone earlier said they ported from a landline in the past and got the promo, too. So there's that.

I have 4 lines in a family plan with AT&T. How does the transfer works with xfinity Mobile? Do I port in 4 numbers at once, or add 1 line at a time and do 4 transactions?

Is visible on the list of carrier to port from?
I ported from Visible to XM for the previous port-in promo and am currently pending fulfillment of my 90 day requirement, and seeing the reward in my Rewards center dashboard.

Won't work because your existing number and phone (imei) is already on the network.
I think it would work since he's upgrading his phone. That should free up the imei of his original phone to use for a byod.

I already have 5 lines on Xfinity mobile. Last time i checked, they said i maxed out my limit with the 5 lines in my account. Anyone have more than 5 lines in their account?
A few months back, they upgraded my account to include 7 lines. It was all automatic, didn't ask for it.

The Black Friday sales are going to be extra $150 on select trade ins. $200 is the highest Xfinity mobile offers for BYOD.

Since there are a lot of current XM customers on here I have a question. I'm currently on the Verizon Start Unlimited plan and my data hasn't been great since I switched from a 10gb plan. I get an average of about 1.7 mbps using fast.com as my guide. Does XM have better data speeds on their unlimited plan or is it the same as being on the Start Unlimited plan?

Question for you. I have Xfinity mobile currently. I want to upgrade my existing phone on my current line. I also would like to keep my old phone and have a new number. With this deal can I
1) buy a new phone and transfer my existing number to it.
2) use my old phone as the BYOP and transfer in a Google Voice number to get the $200 credit?
I would think this should work.
I think it will work, but I obviously can't promise anything, and you'll get no customer service from me if it doesn't Smilie

But anyway, I have two old Galaxy S8's that used to be on Xfinity (I upgraded them a couple years ago). They were eligible for this promo, and the $200 GC shows in the cart when you do it.

This "list" that everyone is talking about is not showing which carriers are eligible for port in promos. This isn't visible. Any carrier is fine. Don't know why everyone is getting confused about that.

Don't use fast.com as that will tell you what video speeds you get since it is hosted by netflix. Regular internet speeds will be much faster usually.

Use speedtest.net or something like that to get a full impression of the speeds you can get for anything other than video.

For video the xfinity unlimited plans are sd video streaming so you'll see the same 1.7Mbps. By the gig will be faster but obviously limited data.

Thanks. Reminds me i have an old S8 too, maybe I'll bring that in too and get a free $200 and not use it for 90 days!
I'm not sure if my current phone will work or not. I would think it should. Cause normally I'd just sell the old phone after upgrading. and the line would be dead when I put it on my new phone, so the old one IS a BYOD and getting a new line. Not sure if a phone or IME needs to be off the system for a period of time first.

I am an existing xfinity mobile user but am attempting to port a google voice number over using a different phone. I unlocked my google voice number for $3. When trying to port this number over to xfinity, I get the message below. Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have to wait a certain amount of time before the unlock is processed? Google voice tells me the phone number has been unlocked

"This number is ineligible for transfer. Try a different number or select new number."

I guess it hugely depends on your 1) execution.

I recently bought a new iPhone (13) via Xfinity Mobile (upgraded a line). The new phone completely replaced the old one (11) in the system, and the old one stopped showing up in the account. The old phone was also purchased from Xfinity as a new line but I think it's irrelevant.

At the same time, I updated another BYOD line (7+) with the 11 that I just removed from the first line. Technically, at this moment I was replacing an old BYOD with the new BYOD. The way this works at Xfinity - my line is still showing my original BYOD phone (7+) but it also has a note that the SIM card is now paired with another BYOD device (11). I just tried typing in my 7+ IMEI in the "Check compatibility" field and it said it's not compatible, even though that was my main phone on Xfinity just weeks ago. My guess is that they still consider this phone to be in-network even though it has no SIM card now.

TL;DR From what I see with my phones, what you're trying to do may work if you buy a new phone from Xfinity (upgrade a line), but may not work if you buy it elsewhere and bring it in as a BYOD.
