You actually don't even need the phone at all. Sounds weird, but as long as you enter an IMEI that passes their compatibility check and qualifies you for the promo, you can just order the SIM and then activate it online. No need to put the sim into a phone at all to activate it. Once it is activated online the service is started, and that is what counts for the 90 days of active service terms.

True story, for this promo I used the IMEI of an iPhone 12 that I got from visible and had already sold(!), but still had the IMEI written down somewhere, and used that to pass the compatibility check and order the SIM card. Once I got the shipping confirmation the next day, I activated my service online (select "I already rec'd my SIM card'), and ported in my expiring Tello number...all before receiving the physical SIM card, which looks like it will be delivered tomorrow.

I've done this BYOD promo several times over the years and never had a problem receiving the git card. They don't check if you are actually using the SIM or phone it was signed up with, just that you have the active line and are paying the bills. Of course, YMMV!
I looked at their site and do not see any option for talk/text only. I also see that you must have Xfinity internet, so many of us do not have any options with them. For those of you who do, sounds like a nice deal.
I used google voice number in the past for BYOD promo and always work. you need to unlock your google voice number from google unlock page [google.com] and pay $3. I recommended to change your voicemail PIN in the google voice setting. This is going to be used by mobile provider for porting. After you complete the unlocking of your GV number, go to xfinity website and place the BYOD order. You should be able to select google voice as your carrier and select "keep my number" to use your GV number. Xfinity will send you the sim card. The porting process start once you receive your sim card and start the activation process. It may take few days to complete the activation. As long as you provide the GV number account information correctly including the PIN (use GV number if you never setup PIN), the porting should be smooth and easy. At the end you need only to pay extra $2 per month for an additional line within the shared plan. .

Does any current XM subscriber try port-out then port-in?
Trying to port out a couple of numbers. Then I'd port in either Google voice or another fresh number.

What does this mean ?
Don't cancel until you receive your gift card.

man you definitely got bamboozled. once you buy the phone and receive it, it will be pretty complicated if you change your mind. you will depend on the reps etc etc. i've learned my lesson before, never trust the reps. but once you have done a few of this deals, you will learn how to work the system.
yeah and then all they said was pretty much oops too bad because they can't do anything about other customer service people telling me misinformation. Basically the guy on the phone was pushing me to complete the switch and I said well I am not totally sure so I may just wait. Then he said well once you get the phone you can always just not activate it and then you don't pay!

Then all that other misinformation. And ps it was from FOUR different people telling me some of those various things I mentioned.

Anyway, so I stayed the 90 days, only got the $25 vs what is now $200, then switched to mint for 6 months at a total of $20 combined. Maybe then i will be considered a new xfinity mobile customer again? lol.

One positive is xfinity did port my number to mint in literally 1 minute.

Stupid question, I have Boost Mobile, if I port my number, I would get a new number for my Boost account correct? (I still want to have/continue my Boost service. )

When I go to sign up for xfinity internet, I get this message at the bottom: "GET $300 BACK WHEN YOU ADD XFINITY MOBILE Complete your Internet purchase. Then head to xfinitymobile.com and add an Xfinity Mobile line to receive your $300 Visa® Prepaid Card." Is this the same deal, but better? I was planning to wait until Nov 17 to sign up for both, because I have a different 12-month commitment for internet until Dec. 3.
As someone who has had xfinity mobile for a few years and xfinity internet for much longer, I wouldn't do it on the last day. When it comes to Xfinity, it is very much a DIY process. You need to read all the small print and rely on yourself to be your own customer service rep manager. Then you tell the customer service rep what service you need them to do for you. And you confirm two to three times with them that they did what you asked before hanging up.

Depending on where you are transferring from, it may not transfer over in one day. They may not activate your internet account in time. Lot of possible issues. Always assume the worst and you will be ok with xfinity.

Your $300 deal looks like a better deal than $200 and is for newbies. But you probably should check to see if there is a different limitation on how long you have to keep the line.

I had XM until September 2021 and then moved on to tmobile.
Can i come back and make use of this $200 BYOD offer?
Punch in the IMEI on the Xfinity site to see what it says. There's no commitment. If approved you can then set it up and add to cart. Still no commitment until you fully check out so this would be a good way to see what happens.
Im on Xfinity and plan on buying a new phone and replacing one of my numbers. I'd like the old phone to be a BYOD and port in a Google number. But when I simulate this on their site , it says my phone isn't compatible. Which is hilarious since it's on Xfinity now. So I guess it would have to be off the service for a period of time before it is considered a new byod?
