Wow! I was expecting much harsher criticism.. my first post reached the Frontpage. Also, it took me this long to realize there's an original post button after the moderators refactor your post into a cleaner, more presentable style. I know I'm long-winded but the people got to know about that flashlight haha

They had free shipping not too long ago but I'm just doing in-store pick-up for my order; Otherwise, the Home Depot $79-$99 2x4ah deal may be better than this one after shipping+fees. This is practically the same deal but a couple bucks cheaper and basically a free intelliport charger with each battery if you have a store nearby.

Thanks for the excellent post, OP. I wanted the LED lights but shipping charges killed it.

Once again, plenty of "One+" items that DTO just conveniently decided not to discount in their "sitewide One+ sale". Most of those items aren't tagged as "no further discounts" either.

Some conveniently have higher base prices now than they did during their last sale.

There may be an issue with the site. I came across two items that are one+ that did not have the sale price listed, but when I added them to my cart the sale price was applied.

Just picked up 2x3ah HP for $70 in Sterling VA yesterday. The 2x4ah was $99

Im looking to get into the Ryobi System, is this a good way to get started or are there historically better discounts during black friday? Mainly looking at getting some of the unique items not offered on the Milwaukee lines.

I've bought over a dozen Ryobi tools since last year, and I'd say the charger and 4.0 HP battery deal right now is really good if you're just starting out and plan to buy HP tools.

Otherwise, the Ryobi Days event in early summer every year would be the best time to get in because they do $100 for two 4.0 non-HP batteries + a charger + carry bag + choice of free non-brushless tool.

Over the next couple weeks the sales will fluctuate between 15-30% off with some being store-wide savings. Last year, the Nov sales were better than the Dec sales, so I'd recommend checking the site every 3 days for things you're interested in.

Starting by getting a battery / charger is fine. You'll buy extra batteries anyway. I switched to Ryobi 2 years ago from an older tool set with nicad batteries. I bought several of the package deals from Home Depot at the time (4-5 tools, a battery and charger) and got everything I needed for a great price. If you can find one by one deals, great. Just depends how you want to approach it and which tools you need or want.

The absolute best way to get in the Ryobi ecosystem is with kits, but also be aware that 4+ piece kits can include a lot of their bottom line tools. I think the 6-tool $199 might still be decent. Ryobi has low, mid and high end tools in their line-up - the low end tools are junk the mid+ tools are good, the high end (brushless) tools are great. The 2-piece brushless kits can be good way to get in the ecosystem because you get the higher-end tools with better batteries and a charger with each.

The thing you'll want to look out for with Ryobi BF deals is the "buy a tool, get a free tool" specials. Usually that means you can turn a higher end brushless 2 piece kit into a brushless 3 piece kit.

Typically kit deals are also the best way to add batteries / additional tools after you've gotten in unless something like these deals pop up. If I were starting over from scratch I'd pick up a few of the brushless kits to get multiple batteries and chargers. I've purchased several of the 3Ah HP refurbished ones from DTO during previous $30 sales and they've all been great.

The 4Ah HP battery with charger in this deal is nice because both the battery and charger are great. Ryobi is moving towards including those AC adapter and stem chargers with everything but the green dual-chem chargers can mount to a wall. Seems like they are phasing them out and the only way to get a wall-mountable charger anymore will be the 6-pack charger which is nice (I own two of them), but will only charge one battery at a time.

I own most of their batteries and I would suggest staying away from any of the non-HP batteries at this point. They don't last as long, don't put out as much power and in my experience owning them seems like the cells aren't as well made and die faster as well.

Great, thank you this makes sense. From this deal I was looking at the Caulk/Adhesive Gun ($30), 4.0 HP + Charger ($53), Glue gun ($15) & LED Flashlight ($8). Comes out to $123 after tax and shipping.
