If you check benchmarks, the 5800x is like single digits faster than the 5600x. Not worth it(for gaming anyways). If I was going to upgrade, id go with the 5900x.
For those considering the 5800x (which is 300$US), the 5700G is a tad slower, but you save a bit of money, as the 5700G comes with a cooler and the 5800x does not. If you planned to buy a cooler anyway and have a dedicated video card, then might as well go with the 5800x.
The reason the prices are crashing is because the 12th Gen Intel CPUs just released and it's ideal to buy an intel CPU in many of the price tiers now if you're building a new computer. The 12600K is significantly faster than the 5800x and DDR5 is optional.

Not saying your info is wrong but it's always best to avoid broad "blanket" statements. Not everyone is building a gaming rig.
In my case, I'm building a home server. Specifically a virtualization (VM) host.
The power consumption plays a big factor for me as this server will be running 24/7. The new Intel chips are more power hungry than the 5600/5700g.
Also, while the 12600K is a nice CPU and clearly has good performance, its hybrid architecture means it technically only has 6 "real" cores (at least as far as a hypervisor is concerned).
My use case is not standard, for sure, but the new Intel chips are not superior in every situation or workload.

You have a very specific case to require a CPU of very specific parameters, and I assume your situation applies to very few people here, and is less likely to help people here.
I did mention a one Intel CPU that you seem to dislike for your case, but there many other Intel CPUs that fit what you're looking for, perhaps the 11400, which was faster, the same TDP, and very price competitive, even AFTER the 5600G's sale.
I'm not really here to argue your one specific use case that is unlikely to help anyone else. I'm glad you seem to know what you're looking for already and that this seems to be a wonderful price reduction for you.
