Update 11:22: Deal is live. Enjoy.
Update 11/17: The YMWV below is likely gone for you. But fear not. On November 22, Costco.com is offering a BETTER deal than I found in Costco B&M.
Costco.com will have the same model for $50 less than I had posted for $349.99+$9.99 S&H+tax.
HOLIDAY PRICE of $349.99 (Down from current $549.99 and soon to drop the regular price to $499.99) GOES LIVE NOVEMBER 22:

ORIGINAL POST
You cannot buy at the $399.97 price online - only in select stores if you are fortunate enough to find it at this price.
I was in my local Costco today and saw this deal. As I've been shopping around for Chromebook deals, this one seems really good for the price... I'm hoping it gets better (that they keep dropping the clearance price).
Lenovo's Flex 5i Chromebook with:
- 11th Gen Intel i3-1115G4 processor
- 8GB LPDDR4x 3733MHz RAM
- 128GB NVMe™ TLC Solid State Drive
- 13.3" Touchscreen LED-backlit IPS LCD FHD (1920 x 1080) Display
- etc, etc.
I asked the Costco rep about return policy / price protection on the Chromebook. I was told 90-day return policy (which puts that into early February 2022) and you can use it during this time. If the price drops again within 30 days from purchase, you can get an adjustment. BUT, I think you have a) to see it in the store at the lower price and b) they have to have physical stock on hand to sell at that price - very tricky.
They had ~50 units to sell. Note in the picture, this price is ends in a) .97 and b) also has the * on it. This usually means that this price is just at the discretion of that specific store's manager as they want to clear space for new stock (I'm hoping the new Lenovo Duet 5?) THIS PRICE IS VERY YMWV. Please report back here if you see this unit on clearance in your area. I'm in the Denver area.
Good luck!

Chromebook sales drop so will prices

I'm confused how an article showing that chromebook sales are down means don't by a chromebook. If a chromebook is right for you, get a chromebook.

Like the people who buy a m1 Mac because it's a great processor - never mind they otherwise have no footprint in the apple world..

we had it for over 45 days. Good that it's from Costco allows 90 days return policy
The employees didn't seem pleased I grabbed it.
My Windows-based laptops (Used for work. They are loaded with productivity and necessary security software) always feel laggy and take forever to start up (minutes, not seconds) - I inevitably break them somehow (processors malfunction or batteries bloat prematurely because I abuse them). My Windows-based work laptops are usually in the Dell XPS range. Yes, I understand this Lenovo Chromebook is not in the Dell XPS range - it is more of a mid-range.
My Chromebooks (are admittedly left at home for personal use where I have wifi - surfing, e-mails, streaming and web based games), with similar hardware specs to the Windows machines simply last me longer, run cleaner (again, I'm not loading them with productivity software, pushing the machine to the end of its capabilities and there is no security software), I love the short boot times (seconds not minutes) - and the simplicity of them.
I bring my tablet when I travel (and always have my Window's-based laptop as a necessity) as an imperfect replacement for my Chromebook. I hope to find a deal on the Lenovo Duet 5 to replace the tablet in my lineup.
My Windows-based work laptops are typically replaced every 12-18 months. My tablets every 3-4 years and my Chromebooks every 6-7 years.
Different devices for different purposes.
