Curious, back of Husky package says:
Product of Vietnam and Taiwan
Finished in Mainland China.

I've had better experience with hand tools Made in Taiwan vs Made in China. Not sure where this actually "made".

Are Tesla's fastened with SAE or Metric? I don't own one, but just now started wondering.

I mostly need to remove lugs and tend to get metric sizes since I have mostly Japanese vehicles. Wondering if I can get away with not buying SAE.
I don't own a Tesla to confirm or not, but it would be absolutely idiotic if Tesla used SAE fasteners. All automakers, domestic and foreign, have been using metric fasteners for quite some time. Like more than 20 years.

Yea. Most new products are metric.

You'll still find the occasional hold out.

This, or the Harbor Freight imposter for $27? https://www.harborfreight.com/12-...69561.html

EDIT: HF is 13-piece; has 3 extra sizes on metric set (10mm, 30mm, 32mm) but missing 16mm.
Pretty sure they both have lifetime warranty so unless you plan on using them a ton just get whats cheaper.

Metric

My S uses 22 mm lugs.

Those 27, 30 and 32mm sizes have each been used way more than I ever planned and were worth buying the entire set.

The HF set should also be on sale or couponed soon with Black Friday and/or New Years sales for around $20. Note that HF sells both 6 point and 12 point and the packages aren't clearly marked so make sure you look inside the socket and get the right one.

Earlier this afternoon metric was OOS for ship.
*ATM* the metric set is back in stock for free ship to home…
(Nearly all of my local stores currently state ' Visit your local store as quantities are limited in this location.')

Just FYI, I ordered these a little earlier this week and they shipped from Apex tools, so presumably that's the manufacturer.

Kinda surprised this hit FP at $30. The free ship and lifetime guarantee are great, but HFT has a 13 pc deep impact set every day at $27 and Tractor Supply sells a 16 pc set for $25: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...pkEALw_wcB

Get the harbor freight chrome vanadium garbage impact sockets for $27 or spend $3 more for good chrome molly sockets. Tough choice.

Okay, all you had to say in your reply is that the HD Husky sockets have better quality metal. I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the comments and the SD FP post doesn't mention the metal either. I see that the OP's original post actually mentioned the metal.

The above said, I wasn't aware and not sure how many others are aware that HFT is using Chrome Vanadium for their impact sockets? They are thicker walled for impact duty, but Chrome Vanadium is definitely not the best metal for impact duty. HFT offers a lifetime warranty on the sockets, but warrantying sockets are a PITA, and HFT has been out of a lot of stuff as of late, so having to warranty cracked sockets is def not ideal.

Does anyone know if the finish on these Husky sockets is a smooth finish as in the picture? I've purchased black impact sockets in the past that LOOK like they have a smooth finish in their ad pics, but when you see them in person, the finish is much rougher. The higher quality smooth finish is definitely preferable if that's the case.
