i use harbor freight deep impact sockets on my S regularly to change out my rims from 21" sport, 19" sport and 19" winter and have never had an issue. I bought the set for $17 4 years ago and use them with my Bosch freak impact drill

The above said, I wasn't aware and not sure how many others are aware that HFT is using Chrome Vanadium for their impact sockets? They are thicker walled for impact duty, but Chrome Vanadium is definitely not the best metal for impact duty. HFT offers a lifetime warranty on the sockets, but warrantying sockets are a PITA, and HFT has been out of a lot of stuff as of late, so having to warranty cracked sockets is def not ideal.
Does anyone know if the finish on these Husky sockets is a smooth finish as in the picture? I've purchased black impact sockets in the past that LOOK like they have a smooth finish in their ad pics, but when you see them in person, the finish is much rougher. The higher quality smooth finish is definitely preferable if that's the case.
EDIT: HF is 13-piece; has 3 extra sizes on metric set (10mm, 30mm, 32mm) but missing 16mm.

Well constructed, but unfortunately a bit too well. These are too thick to use for wheel lug nuts which was the main reason I was interested in purchasing this set. Apparently I am not the first to discover this as the set I got was opened once before by someone else. Also, maybe just nitpicking at this point, but the socket rail it came with was way too flimsy for the size of the sockets. Also, personally, I think the size identifiers on the sockets could be a little more easy to read. Other than that I'm sure they would make a decent, cheap set of impact sockets for the right use.

However that review is correct, the socket rail is cheap, flimsy, junk. I use the older Husky non-magnetic, twisting, lock-a-socket style that were clearanced several years ago for mine.
The size markings on the current Husky 1/2" impacts are roll stamped, not laser etched, so while they aren't as "bright" they will last longer, you just need to turn them a little to catch some light.
