Skip the 3-pack X20 and get the 3-pack X60 from Costco for 20 bucks more (if you are or know a Costco member).

Could you provide some context instead of leaving useless comments?

I have used TP-Link products for a long time and have never had a single issue. Their Kasa line of smart switches and plugs is fantastic IMO, especially factoring in the price component. Their routers are also solid, although admittedly not as feature rich historically as some other brands like ASUS or Netgear. On the other hand, my Netgear routers all had connectivity issues and died after a few years due to unstable firmware updates. My TP-Link mesh system has been running without a problem for over a year.

I picked up the AX1800 router from Amazon yesterday - installed this morning. It was easy to set up following their instructions and I have everything hooked into it except my alarm system camera, which is always a PITA to set up, but I'll get it on eventually.

We have Spectrum, and no issue marrying to their modem or getting internet going. I was afraid I would have to deal with Spectrum, but I did not, it hooked right in.

Possibly tl;dr Spectrum info - In case anyone wonders why I don't just use Spectrum's router, here's the story. The one we'd had several years, and never had any issues with, died a few months ago. I took it to Spectrum and they gave me a shiny new Wave 2 rac2v1k router. It's pretty. It's also not only locked down to where I couldn't even rename the network SSID, but I started having WIFI dropping issues multiple times a day. NOT acceptable. Spectrum was not helpful. I decided to take matters into my own hands. Our only other choice for internet is Century Link. Probably enough said, lol.

So far? I know it's first day love, but so far I love it! My WIFI devices seem much faster. The app is great and I renamed the SSID during setup, and renamed the devices as needed. I will do more, but I wanted to get everything on before doing more tinkering.

I'll update if needed - so far, so good!

Interesting. I started having the same issues recently with the same router - also flashed. I wonder if they're truly at the end of their product life cycle because I've been blaming AT&T for the issues I've been experiencing. I'll be moving into a slightly larger home next year and debating if I should pick up a mesh system now to bring along to the next home even though I may not need it today necessarily (same sqft as you basically around 14/1500)
I have the same model, flashed to the latest Merlin firmware RT-AC68U, huge drop off in speed and stability in the past few months. 200mbps hardwired, 20mbps wireless as of late.

What's the difference between the AC4000 router, and the C4000 router (same price at Costco)

Does anyone know if these would work with 5G internet from T-Mobile?
Did you ever get an answer to this? I just signed up for T-Mobile home internet, but I'm concerned about cancelling my AT&T & DIRECTV since it's been so reliable. However, it's so expensive & they're offering less promotions so $50/month for T-Mobile seems too good to be true. Does anyone have feedback on this service b/c the App has horrible reviews.

They're the same routers as the X60, I'm guessing Walmart had them give it a different name.
Are you sure? Walmart does have the X60 (https://www.walmart.com/ip/TP-Link-DECOX602PACK-AX3000-Whole-Home-Mesh-Wi-Fi-System/882042672?athcpi... [walmart.com] at a more standard price.

I wish these had a USB port to plug in an external drive or something for easy backup and plex and such.

This is not sold by Walmart.com.
I did call TP Link and they told there is no difference between X60 and W6000. W6000 is sold only in Walmart. I ended up getting W6000 from eBay for 90$, waiting for shipment

Currently have the M3 and at the furthest point of the house, the speed drops dramatically to the point where I can't get a web page loaded. Would the S4 help with the issue?
House is about 2700sq ft.

Looking at the S4...our current max speed is 54, so we're nowwhere near the top range on even that older system. 2 units would be enough for our house, but looks like the 2 unit is the same cost as the 3 unit. Any reason to think this wouldn't be sufficient for our needs? Limited gaming would take place in same room as router and be wired, so loss elsewhere not a big concern if it's likely to stay somewhere close to our existing max speed?

Or would it be better to get the $75 Archer AX21 router and a compatible (?) mesh extender? It says it supports onemesh, but it's not clear what extender would work with it?

Maybe depends on the specific device and situation.

also know the "onemesh" limitation as it will only extend your primary SSID, so if you have guest wifi and others setup, it won't extend range for those. Otherwise a solid brand as I have their ethernet over powerline units as well.

EDIT: I see now that there may not be a way to have separate 2.4 and 5GHz SSID's. That sucks. TP-Link definitely targeting very normal folks out there without any kind of wifi complications.

--------- original comment ------

I'm interested in the Deco S4 as wifi access point. With that onemesh comment, does that mean only one ssid can be extended, but if you use the units themselves for AP, can you have multiple SSID's in the mesh?

I know there are wifi extenders. Does the single SSID limitation only apply to the wifi extender function? Or the entire mesh is only limited to 1 ssid?

Does this provide separate SSID's for 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks? I'm assuming mesh is only for the 5GHz? So do you designate one of the AP's as your 2.4GHz provider? Or can each device also provide a different 2.4GHz ssid? Not mesh, just adding more 2.4GHz AP's?

I have 2.4GHz cameras still, so my understanding is that this won't help the 2.4GHz cameras right?

I'm waiting on a deal for the x68 myself. I don't feel like wiring my back-haul, so I could benefit from the tri-band of the x68.

Edit: Looks like Amazon currently has a coupon code to make an x68 2-pack $220, which is the same unit cost as the Costco 3-pack for $330. I need/want 3, so this doesn't help me, but it's a good price if you only need 2.

That's one of the cheaper triband mesh units. I recommended it based on it's price to a friend and so far it has been working without issues. He said the set up was easy.
