I don't understand this either. There are some users posting pics near the advertised speeds as well... maybe they confused another brand or version.

The WD SN850 is as fast as Samsung 980 Pro. They're both PCIe Gen 4. WD SN850 is rated for 1,200 TBW. While the Samsung 980 Pro is 600 TBW. But I've been using Samsung SSDs for 6 - 7 years and not a single SSD has failed.

There is/was apparently a firmware issue in this drive that slows performance on some x570 motherboards. Last I heard, WD was fixing it so they may just need a firmware update.
