The clarification helped, because for obvious reasons the first post can be read as a bit of trolling (they're positioned and marketed very differently, even though they have a lot of overlapping functionaliity).

I would actually make the case that this is indeed a valid comparison at the pure functionality-level because I often try to make a strong case that ChromeOS devices could be the ultimate Android tablet. The schedule for ChromeOS updates would put even Nexus Android tablets to shame (as ChromeOS updates include associated Android subsystem updates). Of course, the negative implications of Android operating system updates have declined over time (owners today of devices with Android 6.0 or later are likely not missing out on most any app in the Play store). Despite this, I personally would avoid recommending an Android tablet because of their spotty support record.

In contrast, I'd be much more inclined to recommend something like this device. However, the only concern might be the general performance of this MediaTek CPU with Android apps via the ChromeOS. I suspect this tablet will be serviceable for most basic apps, but the MediaTek isn't starting from a place of strength. In the end, if your application is basic browsing and lightweight apps, this could perhaps be one of the best choices you might make at this price point.

Good luck!

Because as per Google, any portable device running Chrome OS is called Chromebook, whether it is a Laptop, Tablet, 2-in-1 360 degree device. That's why it is being called as Chromebook Tablet by Lenovo. You are forgetting, even for Google Pixel Slate, the keyboard is optional accessory and does not come free with the device and that is still considered a Chromebook.
You need to know a bit about these things before getting so surprised and calling things weird.

How does this compare to the original Chromebook Duet?
Aren't this and the original Duet very similar in most every specification? Storage might be higher for the Duet, and the build more premium (as in thinner/sleeker) but other core specifications (RAM/CPU/display) seem almost exactly the same.

Good luck!

I don't think it's close if it's for you (assuming you're older than an elementary school aged kid). Go with the Duet. Hopefully the price on those drops back the the $199 level during the holidays.
I'm waiting for the duet to drop back on price. Hopefully it does soon.

Yes, they are. The CPU on this is 2 years newer. I ordered one, hope I don't regret it. I don't need a keyboard, just something to replace my ancient Sony. I love the Sony because it has huge bezels to hold it by, it is super thin and light, but the battery is shot. And, it takes a couple of minutes to fully boot up!

I got 11% CB from the R and used pay pal for 5% Chase freedom.

Like many ARM CPUs, I could find a difference in age between the CPUs, but not a significant material difference in the feature set(!). I would be surprised to learn if/where these CPUs truly differentiate themselves in a practical sense.

The conversation with your significant other is easy here... "but this one is a Chrome OS device!"

Good luck!

I have an old iPad 2 primarily to read books (pdf, google or Amazon kindle) and consume media (videos). It's gotten to the point where most apps don't work. What's the best android replacement? Looking for the best screen display touch screen experience?

Tab S7+ is the current king but the new version is going to be announced very soon. Once you go oled it's hard to go back.

Looks like AUE is June 2028. This should be able to run Android apps, right?

This is $10 cheaper than the Acer Spin 311 I got a few weeks ago. This has higher resolution screen and rear camera, but need keyboard/stand compared to the Spin 311. Otherwise, similar specs.

Can't decide if I should stick with the Spin or get this instead.

Anyone know how much the keyboard is?
Any bluetooth keyboard would work. Personally, I would get a full size keyboard.

I am not positive but can't you run android apps and linux apps?

I have heard that many apps do not work properly, is this true?

I have no experience with this tablet or Chrome.
