Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

Not true, I have the old versions and never paid subscription ever, you get X amount of free storage … never been even 5% full

For XT2 cameras, you do not have to pay a subscription fee. Period. They come with 7200 seconds cloud storage for life. It doesn't matter when you made your account for that. The grandfathering applies to being able to use OTHER models with cloud storage without a subscription fee. I actually have these cameras and am on a new, non-grandfathered account.
You're incorrect.. I just double checked and on the XT2 pages on Amazon it literally says...

"Record, view, and save events in your Blink app with a free 30-day trial of the Blink Subscription Plan. Then, subscribe for just $3 per month per camera, or $10 per month for unlimited cameras at a single location. Learn more here."

It's ONLY free if you're using a USB stick to host the storage data locally.

is the battery life really 2 years? my area is high traffic, both foot traffic and cars; don't want to climb up and change batteries every 3-6 months
No, it depends on foot traffic and where you point the camera. Likely 6 months to a year. Found out the person behind me gives away free shit on facebook causing one camera to have higher than normal traffic

You are incorrect. Do you have these? I do and on a new account. They have free 7200 seconds cloud storage. Period. This is explained on the Woot description also:

"Accounts that were created before April 15, 2020 continue to have the original 7200 seconds per Sync Module of basic cloud storage. XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic could storage per Sync Module, free for life. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, it is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage, to be used when a subscription is not active. "

Read closely about the part how that 7200 seconds for XT2 are separate from subscription and used when a subscription is not active. Again, I have these XT2 cameras from a recent Woot deal and am confirming that it works exactly how that reads. I have free cloud storage for all my XT2 cameras. I added newer Minis and do NOT have free for those because my account is not grandfathered. I moved the Minis to a Sync Module 2 with local storage for them now. The XT2 cameras remain on their Sync Module 1 with free 7200s cloud storage for life.

Also, the XT2 cameras are discontinued and not even on Amazon anymore. The replacement model, Blink Outdoor, does require a subscription. That is what you are looking at on Amazon, as the actual cameras look very, very similar. But in this case the older XT2 model is considered to be better because of the free cloud storage for life and similar image quality.

Damnit the add ons are already sold out. I just put mine up yesterday and didn't mind another one. For $13 this is a steal.
I just ordered 3 of the add ons at $12.99 each.

I am completely new to Blink. Can I buy three of these and would have 20 hrs of recording each?
Edit: Also, do I need to buy a Sync module to use this?

Thank and Appreciate your help

Thanks for this info. I have sealed boxes of XT and XT2 that I never installed. I wasn't aware that the free storage for life was tied to the sync modules. Looks like they will get the free storage.

As many have mentioned so far, you're grandfathered into the two-hours of free storage with Blink devices (newer & older) if you're account was made prior to the 4/15/2020 deadline.

Accounts made today for example, will include the two-hours of free storage for the Blink XT2's, but that storage will be limited to those legacy devices, and not the newer Blink offerings.

So yes, you're still getting free storage buying today and creating an account today with these Blink XT2's.

Can people not read. It's literally right there. Why the heck are people still confused and arguing about subscriptions. XT2 or older units, you get free cloud. Everything newer? Subscription or Sync Module 2 with a USB. Grandfathered in? You also get it free.

Also this kit comes with a Sync Module 1, which has no local storage capability AT ALL. Not a huge issue on its own, until you decided you want to add newer blink cameras to this, like Blink Mini, Blink 3 etc, and you also don't have a grandfather plan, then oopsies, those camera would be worthless motion detectors that does not record anything without a subscription or buying a Sync Module 2 for 35 bucks (which is why Costco's 3 camera + sync module 2 deal for about 100 bucks is pretty nice, if you want to stay with the ecosystem).

Also. Seriously. F-ck Bezos for being a total dick head with this.

Yes, XT2 always comes with 7200 free. And nope. These camera need a sync module to work. Either gen 1 or gen 2. Also each Sync Module supports only 10 camera, so if you somehow need more, you need more modules.

I think you need a Sync Module for these cameras that come with the Kits. If you already own a Sync Module, adding additional cameras for $12.99 each is a steal IMO.

The problem is that the older XT2 cams come with first generation Sync Modules that don't support USB storage. This means you need to pay a monthly subscription fee or the cams are relatively useless. (Just supports Live Streaming without subscription)

If these XT2 cams came with an USB storage Sync Module I wouldn't hesitate to purchase as the price seems like a deal IMO.
XT2 aren't paid subscription for all. Some people can still add additional cameras to their existing free plan. In fact, the newer Blink cameras requires you to must have a subscription if you want cloud storage or you spend additional money to add your own storage which can be done with almost any other camera systems out there.

2 hours of recording cloud storage each on the XT2 cameras. Keep in mind that they do not continuously record. They record clips of up to 60s maximum when motion is detected. I've not found storage space to be an issue at all. The 2 and 3 camera kits being sold on Woot come with the Sync Module 1. The 1 camera addon does not come with a module.

Yes. There is no subscription required for XT2 at all. New account, old account, does not matter.

There are no subscription fees for the XT2! Please read and listen to people who actually have these. All of mine appeared brand new and included the plastic protective layer on the cameras.

It's tied to the XT/XT2 cameras, not the module. If you try to use a newer camera with the same module, that newer camera will require a subscription after trial, but the XT/XT2 still will not. Likewise, you can put the XT/XT2 on a newer Sync Module 2 and still have the free cloud storage, but only for the XT/XT2.
