Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

I've received counterfeit UA items and used items that were supposed to be new. Ordered 4 times and had to return every item.
Funny, the only time I ever had a problem with a Woot! order was also UA items. We ended up keeping them because it wasn't worth returning.

I don't work for Woot! or AMZN or anything related to either, just been a customer for a long time even before AMZN bought them.

is the battery life really 2 years? my area is high traffic, both foot traffic and cars; don't want to climb up and change batteries every 3-6 months
You will be lucky if it last for a month for high traffic.

Damnit the add ons are already sold out. I just put mine up yesterday and didn't mind another one. For $13 this is a steal.

You have to be grandfathered in IIRC, so if you have an old account you can add cameras to your hearts content and be free. Newbies not so lucky.

I've had 3 or 4 XT/XT2s die on me since I purchased a few black fridays ago like a bunch of other folks; Ive got these sync modules sitting around that I wasn't sure what to do with, since I promised myself I wasnt getting Blink stuff anymore. Well, for $12.99 I guess I changed my mind lol.

You can't use rechargeable batteries with these as the voltage drops too low on the batteries and can mess up the camera board.

These are used units that may have been traded in to upgrade. I purchased this once and there is no warranty. I got stuck with lemons where one light didn't work for "night-vision" so it only worked during the daytime and another one ate through batteries every 2 weeks even when the cameras were not active and took NO videos.

I was told I could trade in the cameras for a discounted new camera system and I bet this trade-in program is how they get these used cameras in the first place to sell on woot (blink and woot are both owned by amazon).

I don't trust woot or amazon for used electronics after my experience. I also wasn't very happy with blink especially considering I have had blink cameras since they were fairly new to the market.

Hope this helps someone.

Here's how my mixed system works:

Original XT2 had, and still has, the free online storage. Can not record to USB stick.

Pair of newer XT outdoor cameras record to a USB stick attached to the newer synch module that were packaged with. They are not eligible for free online storage because even though I purchased the XT2 and aynch module before the Grandfathered date, I did not create an account until after the cutoff. Could not get them to budge.

I bought a set of refurbished XT2s earlier this summer, and they have free online storage. They can not record to the USB stick.

I'm only using the newer synch module.

Lot of misinformation in this thread. XT2 cameras receive free 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage for life, regardless of when you made an account. This is per sync module they are linked to and is regardless of which version of the sync module you have. The free cloud storage is tied to the XT2 (and XT) camera itself. Other models do require a subscription if you want to use cloud storage after the trial ends, but you can use local USB storage with the other models with a Sync Module 2. There is no option to use local storage with the XT/XT2 cameras--they are cloud only but again have 7200 seconds free for life even if you are new. I can confirm because I bought these as a new user just a few weeks ago, long after the cutoff. Folks who had an account before the cutoff get free basic cloud storage for all models, not just XT/XT2.

"XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage per Sync Module, free for the life of the device. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, that Sync Module 2 is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage just for them."

You need to cut and paste the whole part instead of port of it from the link.

"Existing Account Storage
Accounts that were created on or before April 15, 2020 continue to have the original 7200 seconds per Sync Module of basic cloud storage.

XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage per Sync Module, free for the life of the device. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, that Sync Module 2 is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage just for them."

Typically if you check under the motion detection setting there should be a way to mask certain areas you don't want to detect motion on

2 years is a joke. All depends on how you set it up to detect motion. 3 months is more reasonable with it going off 4-6 times a day.

I have been using lithium rechargeables, and 2 of my original 5 cameras are still working since April 2019 . I have had 3 die (maybe 4, cant remember if I got a warranty replacement for one), but I don't believe it was due to the batteries, since two of them are still working after all this time. Could be wrong though!
