Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

Thanks much. Got that 3 camera bundle.

Quote from justwanna :
2 hours of recording cloud storage each on the XT2 cameras. Keep in mind that they do not continuously record. They record clips of up to 60s maximum when motion is detected. I've not found storage space to be an issue at all. The 2 and 3 camera kits being sold on Woot come with the Sync Module 1. The 1 camera addon does not come with a module.

Add on??? Well, I'm sure it won't work with Ring? Am I right?
Why would they work with Ring? They don't work with Tonka or Jeep either. Blink is a whole different company.

It's tied to the XT/XT2 cameras, not the module. If you try to use a newer camera with the same module, that newer camera will require a subscription after trial, but the XT/XT2 still will not. Likewise, you can put the XT/XT2 on a newer Sync Module 2 and still have the free cloud storage, but only for the XT/XT2.
Free cloud storage is not tied to the modules. It's tied to the account. I have an old account that I opened in 2018 with 1 XT camera. This year I ordered 2 of the new Blink outdoor cameras and tied all 3 to the new outdoor module. I don't use the old module anymore because the new one has a USB connection. My free cloud account works for all 3 cameras on the new module but the USB flash drive only records from the newer cameras.

Both Ring and Blink are owned by Amazon. But, no, they do not work together, unfortunately. Blink does work with Alexa for motion notifications and live view on Echo Show etc.

There are no subscription fees for the XT2! Please read and listen to people who actually have these. All of mine appeared brand new and included the plastic protective layer on the cameras.
I got these about a year and a half ago and they came to me looking new, protective plastic too. I think they were refurbs and not just used. I think they suck because of the lack of continuous recording. They will be up on Craig's list soon. Think twice if you are about to jump into surveillance cameras. Batteries may last a year except for the front door which lasts about 3 months. I had to turn off that camera.

Thanks! Is the Costco deal coming up? I see $200 right now for 3 cameras.

Also if I get the sync module 2, it would have to be separate as the XT2 does not play well with sync 2, right?

Quote from Jackyhk :
"Accounts that were created before April 15, 2020 continue to have the original 7200 seconds per Sync Module of basic cloud storage. XT2, XT and Indoor (gen 1) cameras receive 7200 seconds of basic could storage per Sync Module, free for life. This is separate from a subscription plan. When one of these cameras is set up on a Sync Module 2, it is assigned 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage, to be used when a subscription is not active. "

Can people not read. It's literally right there. Why the heck are people still confused and arguing about subscriptions. XT2 or older units, you get free cloud. Everything newer? Subscription or Sync Module 2 with a USB. Grandfathered in? You also get it free.

Also this kit comes with a Sync Module 1, which has no local storage capability AT ALL. Not a huge issue on its own, until you decided you want to add newer blink cameras to this, like Blink Mini, Blink 3 etc, and you also don't have a grandfather plan, then oopsies, those camera would be worthless motion detectors that does not record anything without a subscription or buying a Sync Module 2 for 35 bucks (which is why Costco's 3 camera + sync module 2 deal for about 100 bucks is pretty nice, if you want to stay with the ecosystem).

Also. Seriously. F-ck Bezos for being a total dick head with this.

Yes, XT2 always comes with 7200 free. And nope. These camera need a sync module to work. Either gen 1 or gen 2. Also each Sync Module supports only 10 camera, so if you somehow need more, you need more modules.

Ring works with Alexa too. It takes forever for the picture to come up.

For XT/XT2, the free cloud storage is a feature/benefit of the cameras, not your account. It does not matter when you created an account for XT/XT2--they include free cloud storage up to 7200 seconds period. For the newer cameras such as the similar looking Blink Outdoor camera you bought, yes your ability to have free cloud storage for it is tied to your account and the fact that it is grandfathered. On a new account, Outdoor will require a subscription but XT/XT2 will not no matter what. That is what makes the latter appealing.

It does not work with Blue Origin either. Amazon owns half the world but they are two different companies, Ring and Blink.

Blue Origin isn't a camera company. Given the commonalities between Ring and Blink in purpose and parent owner, I don't think it unreasonable for folks to ask whether there is or will be any integration/unification. But currently there isn't, and I would not count on there ever being any.

When I bought mine storage was still free. For a new account probably not. They do work great. Got almost 2 years out of the single AA.

I love these cameras. I use them to watch for mice activity and such. I had to stop use them for everything because they cut off my account for using an API.
my gf put them in a dollhouse in her yard and made videos of the chipmonks.

So if I was to create a new account with these cameras will I get free cloud storage?

Thanks in advance!
