I'd still rather continue paying $40 for Fios 300 over Xfinity 600 @ $20.
Perhaps you should change a MODEM, rather than a router?
Please be aware - these xfinity comcast speeds are not guaranteed, read the fine print, after paying for gigabit speeds for 2 yrs realized it never came even close, we were getting only 250 mbps I tried different routers.
Also if you have many in the neighborhood on Xfinity, it slows you down.
Lastly, when we went past 1 TB we got an additional bill saying we used too much, this happened for two months and I switched.

Although their Customer Service is much better than ATT

I'm a current Xfinity customer with Docsis 3.0 modem and on a 100Mbps plan for $45 per month.

I see a similar deal on my account for the 600 Mbps plan at $50 a month after $10 for automated billing. The fine print states that I will get a $30 credit if I sign up for Xfinity Mobile service, which I am considering.

Perhaps someone can answer these questions:
1. Fully understanding that I may not get 600 Mbps without switching a Docsis 3.1 modem, can I still use my existing Docsis 3.0 modem with this plan? I plan to get a Docsis 3.1 modem in the coming weeks, but if I sign up for this offer, I'd like to know if this is a go with my existing 3.0 modem or if I will be stuck without internet until I get Docsis 3.1 modem.
2. If I switch mobile service to Xfinity, does anyone know if I have to pick the unlimited plan or will the $30 off work with a pay by the gig plan as well?

Thanks in advance!
Your DOCSIS 3.0 modem should work, you just wont see full speed.

I am an existing customer. I just saw it earlier today and signed up after the customer service representative confirmed (on chat) that it applies to existing customers. It didn't say anything about requiring unlimited plan, although I signed up for that one. Hopefully I qualify for the $200 BYOD deal for existing customers as well.

I suspect the "not guaranteed" is standard legalese for all providers. I am on xfinity 600mbps and I always see as much on wired lines (my desktop computer). My mesh routers give me anywhere from 100-500mbps on wifi devices.

Xfinity customer service leaves a lot to be desired, but I dont think the speed is an issue with xfinity. I have been with them for years in 3 different homes in two different states (never had another choice). but I always found that the speed was as advertised.

Thank you. I think I'm going to sign up after I get home this evening.

Does anyone know why the typical taxes are for Xfinity Mobile, say the $45 unlimited plan? Asking because I am currently with Visible and at $25 per month, I get unlimited everything and taxes are included.
When I signed up for unlimited, they showed that my monthly bill would be about 47.50. Assuming I get the promised 30 off per month per month (xfinity is pretty bad generally with cashback/gift card offers), that would be effectively $17.50 per month for unlimited service. I hope the service is better than Visible(that is where I too am switching from LMAO).

You can pay extra for unlimited TB much cheaper than going over every month ( I found that out the hard way also)

Optimum has a monopoly in my area or I would bite. I've been trying to keep my costs down by staying on a legacy low speed plan. 10mbps down, 1mbps up. For basic browsing and streaming between 1-2 devices at a time it's ok. Extra speed would be nice but even the lowest speeds are good enough. evaluate your use case scenarios, you may be able to get away with a lower speed plan too. Not everyone needs 600mbps or anything close
Optimum monopoly customer here. Was paying $63/mo for 25Mbps. Called and said I was about to walk to T-mobile home internet. Optimum gave me 100Mbps for $18.49/mo for one year + first month free.

You can also cancel and sign up in another person's name to get new customer promos.

My promo is about to end which jacks up our bill to $90+/mo. If they don't give me a retention offer I'll just cancel and sign up in P2's name.

Comcast "boosted" my internet speed from 400 Mbps to 600 Mbps which was odd to me since I rarely could get better than around 180 Mbps unless it was like 3:00 in the morning. I would have been more happy if they would have just given me consistent 400 Mbps. After they boosted me to 600 I rarely get up to 300.

Just FYI for all: If you sign up for their xFi Complete addon, which includes modem lease and wifi extenders if connected devices are deemed to have poor connection, then you get unlimited data. Few dollars cheaper per month than unlimited data upgrade alone. This swayed me from going the BYO modem route since I'm a heavy data user.

I hate comcrap too!…paying them $110/mo for 800 mbps down and unlimited data……account in my wife's name…should we cancel and sign up in my name?…how can we avoid downtime?…so the best deal right now is this $20/mo for 600mbps?…could i add unlimited to that for $30?….to take the bill from $110/mo to 50 would be outstanding…

look like I am in the same boat... need to get a new DOCSIS 3.1 modemnod, for future proof.

1. DOCSIS 3.0 still works, but it seems not exceeding 300mbps, max I see is 270mbps mid-night. day-time: ~100 to 150 mbps.
8 channel vs. 32 channel probably will make a big difference.

2. you can pick any plans.

If you live in Chicago, some areas you can get AT&T gig plan. I pay for $70 for 1gig speed. Out of the three years I had probably about 4 to 5 issues. Which is not so bad imo. To me customer service is about the same when comparing AT&T CS and Xfinity CS. At least, I don't have to call every year to try to get a new plan after the promo ends and Xfinity jacks up the price usually upwards of $20 to $25 more. I hate to keep playing cat and mouse with Xfinity.

Overall, I am glad that AT&T gig speed became available where I live.

Pretty much this. I've had Comcast and Verizon Fios. It's a night and day difference, Verizon is so much better. Also, I like my price staying the same, no cap, and no random hidden fees out of no where. Also Fios is way more stable. I get maybe an outage for a few minutes, once or twice a year.
Agreed. I get 300/300 all day every day w/ FIOS as opposed to whatever crap speeds Comcast underdelivers. Another FIOS benefit is that if you aren't getting TV or phone, you don't need any sort of modem. Just get your ONT provisioned for ethernet and plug your router directly into the ONT.

That's right. When I added an Internet package to cart, I saw that promo.
