Also if you have many in the neighborhood on Xfinity, it slows you down.
Lastly, when we went past 1 TB we got an additional bill saying we used too much, this happened for two months and I switched.
Although their Customer Service is much better than ATT

Why doesn't Comcast better keep up with the network capacity customers need? With remote work, 2 computers on VPN, file up/downloads. Zoom meetings and then personal usage… watch a few 4K movies and see what your monthly data usage looks like.
Stop blaming consumers for the results of corporate greed and political corruption that allows these monopolies.
Later on I upgraded my wireless router that had dual WAN connections, flashed to a custom firmware and re-routed all streaming devices to use my other ISP and any other device to use Comcast.
If you can't do any of the above, having two wireless routers provided by your ISPs also works, but local file sharing won't be possible.
However, as of 2 years ago I don't have this setup, I ditched Comcast and got a better ISP with symmetrical speeds.
Edit: you can do this manually if you want to dedicate certain devices to certain networks. Just set up two routers and two wired networks or, for wireless, set them up with different SSIDs and bind them to specific, different channels. Bonus points if you spring for a 6e wireless router, as it will have several non-overlapping channel bands.
Comcast was charging me more than I wanted for gig speeds so I went with another provider but wanted to keep Comcast as a backup. But their plans were too expensive as backups at the time. This 50 mbps plan is spot on and reasonably priced for what I'd need as a backup plan (assuming the plan can be maintained at $20/mo).
During the quarantine, we used about 4 TB or more with WFH and zoom classes for the kids.
Last month as a one-off we used up 7 TB because of off-site data backups for our family photos, videos and media from Plex.
Comcast needs to get it together and upgrade their back-end with all of the money they make. It's scummy how they also never advertise their upload speeds until you are at checkout on their website. Instead of increasing download speeds they should be increasing the upload. No idea why you're bashing the consumer, wrong target.
We changed to another ISP that had a more robust and properly upgraded back-end network with symmetrical speeds and no data cap during the pandemic, thank goodness.

Called them and they were able to upgrade me to 600MB for $50 for 24 months. Not a fan of these long contracts but sadly the only other option in my area is ATT DSL which is slow and expensive.
Check your sign up information...you might not actually be locked in for 24 months. The deals I'm seeing in my area lock the price in for 24 months, but it's with a a 1-year agreement. So it's really only in a 1 year contract.
Also, when your contract ends, it might be worth it to switch to AT&T on a monthly/no contract deal then switch back to Xfinity for the new customer deal. Especially if it's something like $55 vs. $20 and a higher speed (as in my case).
