Citi Custom Cash 5% credit card: new, better offer to earn $300 after $1000 spend available online

For those unaware, the Citi Custom Cash is a relatively new card that gives 5% back on up to $500 of spending each billing cycle in the category you spend in most (e.g. groceries, dining, gas). No having to figure out what the current quarter's bonus category is to get 5% back.
Previously the only offer available online for this card was $200 on $750 of spending in the first 3 months. You can browse that thread for more info and comments about the card. (There was a $300 offer available in Citi branches, but those are only found in major US cities.)
To find this offer, simply log in to Credit Karma and browse suggested credit card offers and you should see it. Alternatively, you can find a direct link on this reddit thread. I'm not posting the direct link itself as I'm assuming SD will mangle the URL.

That totally sucks. I called and looked for a branch a week ago and there was none in my area and the lady on the phone said the 200 for spending 750 was the only offer so i went ahead and did it as i need the card for the 5%. Now there is $300 for 1000. I even called them and gave them a piece of my mind as the card has not even got to me yet but they can't change the promo.
Always happens when i jump on a deal a week later 1 for the same card comes with a better bonus.
Really? I thought the odd comment was he knew exactly how his mom uses her credit card and when she switches for what purchases. Typically, you would have to live with someone and go with them to buy groceries and gas to know that. If you live with your mom, isn't the first question does she buy your groceries for you?
Duh.
The card is only good for $500.
My mom is smart enough to know to switch.
I told her about the card and how to best use it.
Is that too hard for you to understand?
My mom isn't senile if that is what you are implying.

Don't bother i called them and was told once you apply that it is they can't change the promo. Now i am sure some manager might but i asked to be transferred and they said no they can't change it once you apply.

I use Paypal Key with my Verizon to link my credit card. Can you like Amex with Paypal Key?

Anybody know if Sam's club gas uses gas merchant code?
No it is listed as Sams club. You can use Walmart gift cards but there is no place that sells them. You really have no way to get gas at sams with this unless you find a Sams club gift card in a grocery store or drug store. I mean it says right there wholesale clubs do not count.

Pretty sure Costco pumps only take Visa. This is a MasterCard.
They're also not always coded as gas station, usually just warehouse club. At one warehouse, it went through as Costco Food Court, according to Apple Pay, which was odd lol

Fair enough. Some people were commenting that they've seen wholesale club gas show up as gas before in certain scenarios so I figured I'd ask.
If this was on Visa network and had wholesale clubs as a category.. I would have applied even if there is 100$ annual fee. I got it recently through creditkarma and yet to receive the card in hand.
