"The theatrical versions are the definitive versions. I regard the extended cuts as being a novelty for the fans that really want to see the extra material." - Peter Jackson via IGN [ign.com]

That said, amazing prices for the trilogy and if you watch The Two Towers, Viggo (Aragorn) broke his toe when he kicks the orc helmet!

Been hearing this for the last 25 years. In a world where DVDs are still being sold, physical media isn't going away anytime soon.

hu, Lord of the Rings set, Hobbit Trilogy set and Star Wars movies are part of b2g1 free. There are more. I marked the b2g1 ones in the op.

Edit: b2g1 is gone now from those titles

Man, that's a great price on the LOTR and Hobbit theatrical trilogies.
I don't have the 2nd and 3rd theatrical Hobbits, but I have extended (3D and 2D), and honestly if I'm going to watch them, that's the version I'm going to watch.

Star Wars are also pretty good deals, but the ones I don't have on Blu-ray already I have on DVD, not to mention Disney+. If it was the whole original trilogy, I would probably bite.

Good deal on LOTR and Hobbit. I don't see anything worth keeping for the 3rd movie. Too bad they don't have more options.

lol. just shows how much they overcharge if something is popular because they charge a lot more for director cut ones, but since most buy those they then sell these so cheaply.

I've noticed that not all options are showing up (at least on my end). I added a couple to the wiki. Matrix Collection and Resident Evil Collection.

The DVD version of The Matrix Collection is also part of the b2g1 promotion for $9.93.

You can always pay the "sale price" of 10 times the amount for the 4K disc version of LOTR and Hobbit trilogies. I am holding out hope the 4K sets go sub-$20 in a few years after all the customer market willing to pay a premium for 4K dries up. Disney Plus has pretty much killed the market for 4K disc sales of Disney/Marvel/Star Wars/Pixar movies as most households would find it to be redundant to have a subscription and also own physical and/or digital versions of titles regularly on those services. Heck, most households are moving away from having DVD/Blu Ray players as they move from physical to digital and also de-clutter. It'll be interesting for sure to see what the future holds for physical media...might only be a niche market for the audio-video purists with expensive home theater setups.

I got all 6 LOTR movies and uncle buck/great outdoors DVD for my mom. 6 bucks each and a free Xmas gift, now that's a slick deal, thanks op.

LOTR movies extended or not are great for being sick or hungover. Just put on that disc and let it ride. 12 hours of content with zero effort. Harry Potter is great for that too.
