The more I heard that term the less it makes sense. Like is it going to still play games at maxed settings in 2025? Yeah, no it's not. No matter what computer you buy today that's not going to happen. Are you going to be able to use the latest features introduced with RTX 5000? Maybe not, we can't know. Is the Ryzen 5800H going to be just as fast as Ryzen 7000/8000 or the next two generations after Adler Lake? Hell no.

Will you get decent frame rates some some fiddling of the settings and still have good visuals, good resolution with a 140W laptop RTX 3070? Yeah, you will. I have a laptop with a GTX 1070 and a 4-core i7-6820HK or something. It can't do ray tracing and it can number crunch like the latest processors, but I can still play games that come out even if I can't max them out. I can also do all my daily stuff without running into too many issues or slowdowns because I know how to clean out my computer and repaste when necessary so that overheating is never a problem.

Like what do you want/expect when you say "future-proof"?

I pulled the trigger. Gonna be like $1540ish after tax and cash back. Will be almost exact same price as Walmart deal but with 2 TB SSD.

EDIT: re-ordered with a stacked $50 newsletter coupon. What a deal.

The Walmart one though, is out of stock to buy online. So you will have to wait till the next restocking (whenerver that is).

Around 10 days ago, my brother bought it online for $1399, but that was after I spent around 30 minutes refreshing the website till it showed up at that price. It lasts around 1 minute at that price before going up in price again. So if you were too slow, you have to keep refreshing the website until it shows up again at that price.

But yesterday, I was looking for another one to buy for another family member, so I started refreshing the webpage... eventually it showed up again at $1399 but with a "Out of stock" instead of the usual "add to cart".

TL;DR

The walmart deal is dead for the time being, at least to buy online, so that leaves this deal as the better next option, specially with the cashback.

Geez dude, lighten up. We're not trying to suggest there's a machine out there that won't be outdone in 2 years. IMO 'future proof' simply means: buy the most up-to-date machine we can comfortably afford.

A coworker and I just grabbed 2 similar models at Walmart for 1400 each. Probably some slight differences here. Amazing machine. I'm coming from a 970m Razer Blade 14". Screen is beautiful by comparison. Trackpad not nearly as good as the Razer but everything else is great. I would say the trackpad is the weakest link, followed by the RAM (watch youtube videos about upgrading). The power brick is stupid big too which kind of sucks but for what I need it for it's fine.

if anyone wants a bomb ass laptop, but doesnt mind 17 inch, the GE76 3060 from costco, (2 year warranty) (4 year with costco cc) goes on sale 1199.

I ordered 2 of them and getting price adjusted on the 25th for 600 returned. gonna flip em.
