The more I heard that term the less it makes sense. Like is it going to still play games at maxed settings in 2025? Yeah, no it's not. No matter what computer you buy today that's not going to happen. Are you going to be able to use the latest features introduced with RTX 5000? Maybe not, we can't know. Is the Ryzen 5800H going to be just as fast as Ryzen 7000/8000 or the next two generations after Adler Lake? Hell no.

Will you get decent frame rates some some fiddling of the settings and still have good visuals, good resolution with a 140W laptop RTX 3070? Yeah, you will. I have a laptop with a GTX 1070 and a 4-core i7-6820HK or something. It can't do ray tracing and it can number crunch like the latest processors, but I can still play games that come out even if I can't max them out. I can also do all my daily stuff without running into too many issues or slowdowns because I know how to clean out my computer and repaste when necessary so that overheating is never a problem.

Like what do you want/expect when you say "future-proof"?
PSA: use code DEALMOONS2021 for even a slicker deal! $1,501 out of the door (even less if your state tax is lower). Combined with 11% cashback, total you pay should be around $1,285.

1. In your browser, enable the Cognito Mode.
2. Go to the product link. The Lenovo website should pop up a $100 discount for new customer. Type in your info and copy the code. Use any email, does not matter.
3. Exit Cognito Mode and login. You can stay in Cognito Mode if you want.
3. Add product to cart
4. Add code DEALMOONS2021
5. Add ID.me discount if you have it
6. Add the new customer code copied earlier (note that it will only show $50 discount)
7. Make sure you have SD cashback or other cashback extension enabled for 11% off
8. Profit.

Can anyone truly elaborate the difference between Lenovo 5P and 7? and how the differences factor into everyday use?

Thanks!
The Legion 7 has a better build with more metal, is more slim, has vapor chamber cooling, and more RGB. I returned a L5P and kept the L7, both of which I got for similar pricing to this deal.

A coworker and I just grabbed 2 similar models at Walmart for 1400 each. Probably some slight differences here. Amazing machine. I'm coming from a 970m Razer Blade 14". Screen is beautiful by comparison. Trackpad not nearly as good as the Razer but everything else is great. I would say the trackpad is the weakest link, followed by the RAM (watch youtube videos about upgrading). The power brick is stupid big too which kind of sucks but for what I need it for it's fine.
Yeah the power brick is a bitch, but at the same time it will probably last forever since it's likely overbuilt for the amount of power it provides.

Did you use zentimings to confirm that you got the slow ram? I went ahead and bought some RAM sticks for my wife's machine only to find out that the Legion 5 Pro she got didn't have the slow ram at all. I just returned it and saved myself $150. I think maybe only the early batches had the issue because they ran into a shortage of memory from a preferred supplier. These days RAM prices seem to be dropping a little

I built my PC in 2012, updated the graphics card in 2016, and now it's time for a new one, as the CPU isn't strong enough for the latest gen.

Correct, needed to clarify. I am looking at the AMD or Intel 3060. The AMD 3060 is $1,496, or $170 cheaper. The Intel 360 is $95 cheaper.

The Lenovo is much more powerful (but heavier). So if you want it just to play, lenovo is the better option for sure.

That works well for the desktop world since upgrades are actually possible, unfortunately for the vast majority of laptops these days the GPU and CPU are straight up soldered to the board so upgrading will be difficult at best

Personally I wouldn't pay more than $1200 for a 3060 laptop, even one with a premium build.

Another poster in another thread said Lenovo is junk nowadays compared to what it used to be. Can anyone confirm?
I got the Walmart deal (same as this but only 512gb ssd) and it's a great machine. Very high build quality and performance.

Thanks for posting. I added custom builds for the Legion 5i, Legion 7i, and Legion 7 to the original post. Only caveat is that shipping for the custom builds are quoted as months out.

My second Intel 7i, Ordered 11/1 Delivery on Dec 1st! With an estimated 2+ month. But that's getting canceled - For this new deal!

That's great news! Also what's your reasoning for going with intel on the 2nd L7?
